All set for the CCC2CC now, minor change in that I've changed the saddle to a Charge Scoop which is 10x more comfortable and I'm running Mountain King Mk2 Black Chilli Protection (I had the basic compound originally).

Looks good. It's surprising how much fun xc race bikes are to ride, I love riding my Anthem.
It should really have a single ring, it will make you faster.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Sweet. I'm a sucker for a Spesh' and that looks like a good little build there. Nice"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Cheers!
Its actually got the lowest travel of any bike I've ever owned (I discount the Rock Lobster as I didn't have it long enough), but I like riding it quite a bit.. definitely a bike for covering lots of miles on!
Single ring sounds ok, personally I want an XT double 10sp up front. For the CCC2CC I'll need a triple though as its going to be a mix of everything!0 -
Action shot from the CCC2CC....
I'm in 2 minds about this bike now.
On 1 hand, I really want to hang on to it as it's great for an "epic" day out.
On the other, it is a bit boring for me. Anything remotely technical and it struggles to keep up with only the 100mm travel available.
Decisions Decisions!!0 -
A nice longish travel hardtail is needed I think!0

I think with a bit of shopping around you could build something around the 140mm mark at a similar weight which would give you both an epic day out bike and a bit more bounce and play on the rough stuff0 -
Up early this morning for a blast round Cwmcarn with Welshkev, taking in a route over the moors as its a bit more natural and makes a nice change to just the trail centre and takes the ride up to 18km.
Still really enjoying this bike, I think its a keeper now. Just gotta get the weight of it down a touch and it will be perfect for general xc rides!
Even took a couple of pics this time, was a really nice crisp morning!

Got two pairs of nice 26" wheels to sell, plus a load of kit off my Top Fuel if you want to lighten it...?! 1246g Podium wheels, DT240/Alpine wheels, XTR double chain set, with ti single ring if you'd prefer...?0
-
Hmm... going to be well into 2014 before any upgrades come my way!
Wheels I'd like to keep the xt's tbh. Not as light as they could be, but as I'm 16st I'd imagine a set of 1246g wheels would pringle if I looked at them!
Would like to go 1x10 with and xt groupset and a clutch mech I think!0 -
Aye, think the weight limit is 76kg!0

Another night ride done, did another natural ride with Welshkev.
Lots of mud, cows and a car rolling down a hill with no one in it and the alarm going. Think someone forgot to apply the handbrake haha.

Where did the car end up?0

i'd forgotten about the car!
it rolled backwards about 20ft and there was a bend in the road so it bumped up on the curb and stopped. but no one came to check it out, so we did the right thing and just kept on riding0 -
Many years ago a friend parked his immaculate Golf Gti outside my house and mustn't have secured his handbrake properly. When he left we opened the door to see an empty space where his car had been. He nearly had a coronary for a moment until we spotted it halfway down the (steep hilly) street, resting undamaged in a hedge on the opposite side of the street. It must've missed the parked car next to it by no more than a couple of inches.0
