    The problem is and I accept this is just one viewpoint but they've never really properly looked at the situation.

    As I say though - juts my view - put up there to be shot down.

    What's with all that Hilary Mantel hate on the other thread, anyway? Wolf Hall was excellent! A lot of historical fiction is pretty mediocre, though. I liked Robert Harris's Pompeii, but wasn't quite as taken with his later books about Cicero. Of course, novels set in ancient Rome are always going to have a hard time following I, Claudius.
