But there's no roads up here. Just sheep tracks. And the weather is awful - I mean in the last year the it snowed every day. And you put the dirty washing out to get cleaned and bring it in to dry. And everyone speaks that Gaelic stuff. And you get taxed more just for being here. And the Council still sit round a big stone and bang sticks together (although that might actually be an improvement on Council's further south). Nah, it's rotten up here. :)
Quite right. Completely antiquated with no connection to the modern world like mobile phones. Or phones.
    Or t'internet. Oh...

To get to the best of Scotland, you have to go north of the Caledonian canal. 8)

Whilst out on a ride the other evening along some dirt tracks we call roads a large angry motor vehicle sped past almost knocking us to the ground. My friend, who comes from a wee town on the outskirts of Dundee, started screaming “A HOOSE!!! A HOOSE ON WHEELS!!!”. I’ve travelled to the London before so was able to assure him that it was not in fact a house on wheels but a double decker bus.

I was involved in the design for some large kit to be exported to India and was assured that the packing case was built better than the houses at destination and as soon as emptied it would be furnished.

A double decker bus? Luxury!

After independence we can make Simon Warren do a 100 greatest cycling climbs in Scotland rather than the paltry 7 or 8 entries we get at the moment.

Which reminds me, I must go and do Wrynose and Hardknott before they close the borders......

After independance, we can ban Simon Cowell and other tw4ts from coming here.

    Alan Sugar

Well Declan, another reason would seem to be that there is no fecker around who might steal your bike. You appear to have had the place to yourself. :)

There were roughly 3,500,000 cyclists today and all of them looked like they were doing LEJOG/JOGLE. It's normally nice and quiet but not when the sun comes out

    Sorry! :P

Only when there's no wind and you're in a forest. We don't get many Mosquitoes but Midges are a pain with no wind :(

Having spent the best part of a fortnight in Irvine recently, I can safely say that I would hate to live back in Scotland. Crappy weather, don't drink Irn Bru, don't smoke, like sunshine. Still has the shameful sectarian attitude too. Living in Kent has spoiled Scotland for me, it is such a poor place, really depressing IMHO. :|

    True.
But I just spent a weekend in Cornwall.
The weather was no better and the roads were that busy with speeding traffic that I wouldn't like to cycle there. Not to mention that there are no flats.
Can't wait to see London traffic this week.

If the best part was in Irvine, I shudder to think where the worst part was
