You know who you are, You are the people who are in love with your own internal monologues:

"My bike is considerably more expensive than yours so by that logic I am better than you, now that has been said shall we away"

I dont like you, You look ridiculous in lycra and work in middle management and use the phrases "by close of play" and "push the envelope" , You are like a broken pencil - Pointless.

No one likes you.

Now, tell us how this all began?

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

    PS:- I will laugh.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

I'm already laughing - whilst looking down my nose at people who are clearly inferior to people like me. They know it but have great difficulty accepting it, hence posts like this one.

Just popping out now to ride my very expensive bike at a very fast pace for a great distance.

    :)

p.s. my avatar is better than yours, too.

We need to know, is this an on-going situation? Lets run it up the flagpole and see who salutes it.

I have a similar rant, and you get people attacking you just because it hits a nerve.....

it basically points out that all the obnoxious mtbers you see at the trail centre, as a rule they:

drive a german car, preferably an X5, it must have illegal smoked windows and a private plate (m5's and M3's are acceptable but the x boys will think you're poor)

you must have a the peter bike (lapierre) or if you're an old man you need anything full carbon that matches your livestrong glasses and band (oh dear) and the peter is chosen by your teenage son who has never lifted a finger in his life..... and seems not to understand the value of the bike, never mind how lucky his life is

they almost always use the dropper seat post in the car park as they go past you (its been flat enough for a high saddle for the last 1000 meters and now you choose to show everyone a £300 seat post in action) this is to show they cannot understand that its not a race, life is not a race.........

    and:
I have even been declined work by a now defunct bike shop (I could been their saviour) why?

because the manager (a peter owner) and his No 2 (who's only bike is a full carbon yeti, but didn't cycle.....) had issues with the fact I owned a kona cowan (even though it was the special edition with a custom paint job) a £1200 bike with a full hope upgrade...... not good enough..... ffs......
I am glad they failed and the shop is closed, they underline arrogance of an unclassified group of people in this country

I bet my bike is considerably better than yours.

Someone appears to have a severe case of bike envy.

In my 20 odd years experience of riding low to mid level bikes I have never come across this bike snobbery that some newcomers seem to encounter every time they go out. Weird :?

My first experience of bike snobbery was when I joined a club and went out with the MTB group (I started out on the dark side :( ) There was one bloke who had a top grade bike which dripped XTR stuff and to him anyone was only as good as the bike they rode. In his eyes he was the best rider in the club even though he was grossly overweight and constantly off the back.

Quite frankly the man was a bit of an embarrassment and got even worse once he opened his mouth. Sad really I feel sorry for the likes of him.

    Amen to that !

Ive never noticed snobbery in cycling myself, I have a nice bike and others have asked about it but only in a positive. I also dont think having a nice bike makes me better, the fact is, people in their 50's and 60's were passing me at the weekend in bikes worth less than my wheels so value has little to do with it imo.
On the contrary, I have and still feel that bike owners are taken for a ride (no pun intended) in many sectors of this sport.

    Bikes don't matter.

What bothers me though is (riding on quiet lanes), how I can pass the same berk 3 days in a row, wave and say hi each time, and all said berk in his replica Team Kit can do is turn his head round and have a good stare at my bike. Ignorant tw@t.

I hope people like that get smacked off by a car.

Bit OTT for someone staring at your bike

Naaa, the guy heard me say hi everytime and wave, I always do so even if Im pressing on, and he rubbernecked 90 degrees each time, its ignorant. (if he'd said hi on any occasion and waved back I wouldnt care less if he wanted to look at my bike, in fact Id stop and say hi... but no, hope he falls off or gets a mechanical miles from home to be honest, ignorant people p1ss me off)

Yeah I'm with you that the rider was ignorant & I try personally to say hello to every rider I see out. But wishing someone to be hit by car because they didn't say hi back is OTT IMHO

Alright then, lightly hit by a car, broken bike but not too injured. That'll do me. (and its not 'not saying hello' its the combo of 'not saying hello/taking a good look at my bike for as long as he could till Id past him' that I find irritating... if someone doesn't say hi and thats that, I don't care, there's plenty of ignorant people in the world).

Well, if he rubbernecks at every bike that passes by instead of looking where he is going it won't be too long before you get your wish.

Could we not settle for a little bit of karma - the staring rider spending too much time looking at you bike, wobbles and into a field over the bars & into a pile of cow muck sort of like a scene from last of the summer wine

Jeez, aside from the (few) positive comments on here, can't people just live and let live?

I work in middle management, look a bit chubby in lycra and have a couple of bikes that are probably better than my own ability. However, the number of bike-snob incidents I've had to suffer can be counted on one hand.

Perhaps it's reflected somehow - if you're looking for snobbery (or something else to complain about) you'll no doubt find it.
