Fixed wheel on a turbo trainer

I'm considering getting a fixed wheel bike to use exclusively on my turbo. Is this a good idea, I'd appreciate any help/advice.

Thanks.

I have always used a fixed wheel set up because using a variable resistance trainer makes the use of gears OTT. The bike I use is made for the trainer and could not be used on the road. No front wheel. So is quite a cheap set up that does the job. You could also use an old freewheel block. The main point about the bike set up is to get the chain alignment between the chainset and sprocket very straight.

My fixed wheel bike has a different dropout spacing (120mm) to my road bike, meaning the tyre sits well off-centre on the Tacx Satori. May be fine on other turbos.
