How to wash, expensive clothes ...

In twenty years of washing clothes, I've not ruined anything yet and I wash everything the same way. Dark colours are turned inside out, everything is put on a quick wash with a washing liquid (the ones with the bag that dissolves) at 30°, the only variation is if something is really soiled I'll put it on a longer wash.
I have however ruined plenty of items in the tumble dryer....mostly the wife's jumpers
I have some of that tech wax wash stuff for my karimor jacket, but don't think it's made much difference at all and the jacket is probably 8 years old.0 -
I've taken castelli advice and got some nikwax tech wash...
But reading their instructions the 1L wash would not last that long at all.
How much do you really need to use for let's say a kit wash? (ie top, jacket, bibs, and socks)London2Brighton Challange 100k!

I'd hand wash the white jersey. Washing whites with colours tends to grey them. Worth taking a bit of trouble over an expensive jersey and a hand wash will only take five minutes.0 -
30 degrees in the washing machine and turn them inside out. This protects the graphics from being rubbed off in the wash.0

Just washed a load of my newish gear, Rapha jerseys, bibs, and some craft baselayers.
I used Rapha Apparel Wash - http://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/shop/apparel-wash/product/ACL01
As recommended did a 30 degree wash. Unfortunately they still smell a bit?
Any recommendations on how to get them smelling fresh without doing any damage?
PS sorry for resurrecting such an old thread0 -

In the washing machine, colour gel, short cycle (unless really filthy) 30 degrees, NO FABRIC SOFTENER.
Hang to air dry overnight.
Done.

I never knew Rapha did their washing stuff too, hmm, I just stick with the non bio 30 degree wash everything inside out and leave on the clothes horse to dry, and have enough spare kit so I dont feel so bad at washing it before it becomes unbearable to wear

But im worried about sticking them into the washing machine as i've had issues with expensive gear before.
So anyone who has these items or similar items what do you do to wash them?(inside out/in a washing bag/hand wash..)
I've written an in-depth article about caring for your clothing

What "issues" are you having? I've never done anything special to my cycling apparel except no fabric softener and hang to dry.0
