Here she is with her new bits. The pedals will be XTR spd's, I put the flats on just for set up purposes. Also the Sunrace thumb shifters have become Shimano Dura-Ace thumbies after I discovered that the Shimano shifters were a perfect fit on the Sunrace bar mounts. I also put my trusty old Charge spoon ti/leather saddle on. After a quick blast I can report that the bike still feels immense fun with a nice floaty feel to the ride, brakes and gears work superbly. The chainset now has a 40 TA outer instead of the previous 34t.

Really like the new look, how do you find the rigid forks after having the Rockshocks on?

Spotted a pair of bargainous Easton EA70 XCT wheels on Ebay for £120 !!!! Brand new, latest model, 1620 grams and Tubeless ready normal rrp is £560 a pair. Only problem is the hubs are 15mm thru front and 135/142x12mm rear which is no good for my bike as i need normal qr front and rear. Luckily I have found adapters for both front and rear to allow me to use the wheels on the Wanga. The front adapter is a machined alloy sleeve that will allow the use of a 9mm thru axle Qr and the rear is a step down adapter from Nukeproof which allows me to use a normal Qr. So in total I have spent £150 for wheels and adapters.

My super bargain Easton EA70 XCT wheelset turned up a short while ago, very impressed with them and they weigh in at bang on 1598 grams, 22 less than advertised. Just waiting for the front axle converter before I fit them. Still quite a few pairs left on Ebay so be quick, they come as 15mm thru front and 135/142 12mm thru axle rear but as I have previously mentioned, Nukeproof do a converter to make the rear into a normal 135mm qr set up http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Easton-EA70-X ... 53f8883e3f . Also managed to find a pair of Exotic carbon rigid's which along with the wheels will take off quite a lot of weight. I maybe getting hold of an immaculate Carbon GT Zaskar frame, if get it I may transfer all the bits from the Voodoo, then I can build a singlespeed bike based around the Voodoo frame and steel Surly fork as the Voodoo's dropouts make going ss an easy task.

Looking at both the EA70 and EA90 wheelsetsI would go for the 70's as the the 90's are only 38 grams lighter but £70 more, they seem to have the same rim profile as well as the same spokes and nipples, to be honest I am struggling to see any real difference between the two apart from cosmetic differences.

Do you reckon these will be a big improvement on my DT Swiss AM1900 wheelset?

Will be 3/4 pound lighter and are ust ready, Easton wheels are pretty tough for their weight but the AM1900's are probably tougher as the Eastons are a XC wheelset although DT rims are pretty soft.

The new weight with the new wheels, tyres, and Selle slr saddle is bang on 23lbs with pedals, If I get the carbon Zaskar frame, it will take the weight down to sub 21lbs.

That is one sexy ride! Happened to have seen one of these last week, the frame colour is properly nice in the flesh. This one does look alot better and higher spec than the one i saw. Great job with this!

If you get a new seat, i think you should stick with the red, goes really really nice with the frame.

Only been up and down the street but they feel solid and spin well and the freehub feels great too. The tubeless tyres needed a compressor to inflate, the combination of light wheels and 500 gram tubeless tyres have made the bike feel very quick. The adapters work great as well. will report more when I have taken them off road. Forks are half a pound lighter but if I am honest I prefer the look of the steel forks, I will ride both forks to see which feel better.

The paint job is really nice but you only have to look at it and it chips, so with that in mind I fancy having the frame and forks powder coated in a nice colour.

Not too bad of an idea in that case.

Favourites at the moment are candy apple green or chrome effect powder coat although if I can find some touch up paint for the current colour I may just have the frame clear coated thus protecting the existing paintwork .

I'd go for the clear coat and touch up personally, that is a lovely red. Chrome is also really nice too. I'm not a big fan of green personally but it's your bike, not mine :)

If you like nice reds, but want the durability of powdercoat, how about a lovely deep candy red over metallic silver basecoat (the pics don't do it justice - it really is lush, and needs to be seen in the flesh)? :

Is your candy green like this (this is over a metallic silver base too) ? If it is, it's a long standing favourite of mine, and looks great too.

    8241.jpg?max=640

If you want something subtle yet bling at the same time, how about gloss black with a silver metalflake lacquer? Looks like a regular metallic black until direct sunshine hits it then it's hello 70s disco pimp metalflake - it sparkles like fuck (again, photos don't do it justice):

For true chrome effect powdercoat, the only one I know of is Aeromax by Aerocoat, but it's expensive. You can get "black chrome" effects cheaper (this was £25) - it's not a true mirror chrome look, but it is shiny:

I was thinking about getting some Prismatic Shocker Yellow over super chrome powder coat sent over from the states but after postage and the inevitable customs charge It will be expensive although it would look amazing.

It's always difficult to tell from pics, but that looks very similar to my candy green over silver. The place I use most buy their powders from the USA these days, and there's a load of really cool colours and effects available over there, but with most you'll have to buy far more than you'd need for a bicycle frame as the minimum purchase quantity.

Just had a look on their website, and that Shocker Yellow over silver looks pretty identical to my wheels.

That (green/yellow) pair were done by NB Coatings in Castleford, but I have another pair in the same colour done by LSN in Castleford (they did the candy red and metalflake black too, I get most of my coating done there).

Just looking at the gallery pics on that Prismatic Powders website there's some gorgeous colours and effects. I'm so jealous - over there they get so much more choice than you do from coaters in the UK.
