Leg Injury Question - possibly overtraining

Hi guys, ran a search but couldn't find anything directly that came up. Sorry if wrong forum but not sure where to place.

Background info:
Males, 28, Riding/training for around 6 months building to roughly 3 rides a week totalling 100miles.

About three weeks I did the 3 rides three days on the trot and the next week had terrible pain across top of my right knee around tendons. Put down to over exercise so went with RICE and problems went away.

For the last week something new has been going on and don't know if linked. I have been getting gradual build up of pain as i ride on the right hand side of my right leg, below the knee (about 6cm down from centre). It's continuous as a pedal and this morning a small bruise about the size of a 50p piece has appeared after applying some ice on it , and I get a bit of pain if I prod it. When I prod round the area their doesn't appear to be any swelling compared to the other side but does appear to be a knobbly bit of bone their (as their is on my left leg). Will be heading to docs on Tuesday but wondering if anyone on here as similar experience.

Thanks in advance...

Search for ITB syndrome....I am no expert but a tight IT band can cause issues as you describe. Usually massage and specific stretching/ strengthening is recommended. I am sure others will be along soon .....
  • Cheers for the reply that's pretty much what the physio came up with she told me to get foam roller and some stretches. Also noticed a rash below knee by fibula head that was given pain as cadence went up, looks like from tights rubbing my very hairy legs so got steroid cream for it.
