Not in 9 years it won't. When you were promised to be able to retire at 60 and now probably have to work until an hour or so before you die !! And even then you will have to pay back any holiday pay owing.
However my family and I have benefited from a fantastic NHS, state education and benefits and loads of other stuff we here take for granted. Things 90% ? of the world populous could only dream of. Short of ACTUALLY WINNING a vast fortune that's as good as it can get.Tail end Charlie

Until two weeks ago, it was £10 on the Lotto. Then I got managed a 3rd place in a local road race and got a £10 prize, plus £20 from my club as a 'podium bonus'. The one week that the organisers forget to send the results to Cycling Weekly ........“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. My mother picked coin up - we all told her to hurry up and when we got to the pavement asked her if it was really worth it. Answer was a definite yes - the coin was a krugerrand.
Reminds me of a story.... Where I work someone got some very strong industrial strength adhesive and glued a 20p coin to a work bench. It's so funny watching people walk past trying to pick it up. It's still there years later."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

+1 - probably makes you better off than 99% of people who have ever lived.0 -
Hated Vegas, went for an overnighter there when on holiday in LA. I don't think it helped that I was skint by then so couldn't really do much and also the hotel cleaners were on strike and the town was therefore even seedier and messier than it would usually be. Luxury there seems to just mean tacky. I stayed at the Riviera. The only plus point was I got to see Sharon Stone who was there filming Casino at the time. How anyone can stand a whole holiday based around the place is beyond me, it makes Magaluf look classy.0

Most I've won was £100 on an office hundred club prize - I actually won it 2 months in succession but the second time was the Christmas version with more money. Most I've found is probably £10 or so, I've certainly never found a big stash of cash. I'm hoping my relative lack of luck is because I'm going to win big one day (Friday's Euro Millions would do nicely!).0

I think if you go there knowing what your getting there is no finer place on earth.

Does being clever with shares count as winning? If so, then the "win" currently stands at about £100K.Ben

About a month before Christmas I found an Asda saving card which on checking had £400 on it, no name or details on the card. I handed it in to the branch along with my details. I checked a couple of months later to see if it was claimed by the owner, surprise surprise no details could be found. Obviously one persons Christmas made and probably someone else's ruined.0

Found: £20 while out walking the dog once. Ditto a pair of fairly expensive binoculars. Did the right thing and took these to the police station; unclaimed after 6 weeks so I got to keep them.
Won: $500 online gambling. Well it wasn't me it was the b@stard who'd cloned my credit card. I had a good alibi; I was under a general anaesthetic having my gallbladder removed at the time. Credit card fraud detection spotted it, and in due course both the online gambling company and my credit card provider credited my account with $500. I figured they could both afford it.0 -

I found Vegas amusing enough for the couple of days I was there, but for you to to say there is no finer place on earth is simply staggering to me. I've been to hundreds of places I'd go back to over Vegas any day of the week.0 -

You took my comment out of context, I said if you go knowing what your getting there is no finer place and there isn't.
I go to Vegas for a break from reality, a totally fake, pleasant, wild, raunchy place and that's what Vegas is. I'm not sure I've found anywhere to match it and I'm widely travelled.Living MY dream.0 -
Apologies VTech,
I read your post as meaning you thought Vegas was the best place on earth. I'm also well travelled, and Vegas is well down on my list of places to return to, or to visit for the first time for that matter. I guess I'm similar to Pross in that I viewed it as a bit tacky, and brash and materialistic. There are so many really wonderful places on this planet, that Vegas doesn't really figure on my radar. However, I can see the attractions, and it is far from the worst place I've ever visited.0 -
I do hold it in higher regard than yourself (not a good or bad thing) but I fear it becomes addictive, not gambling but the way you land at McCarran and are immediately in a different world.
As for nice places, I actually love Cuba, really enjoyed it there but im just outside sepang right now and its lovely here also but if I could go anywhere I would love to visit mexico, always fancied going there.Living MY dream.0
