Won: $180 Roulette. Had $90 left and decided to put it all on black
Found: Some Chinese money on a train. Got it exchanged for GBP at M&S and received £450! -- felt kind of sick when I realised most of it went on alcohol though. Obviously now I'd spend it a lot more productively
You?

Found: £20, but I think it was mine anyway.0 -
Not exactly sure but had a great day at Chester races a few years back. Took money out with me for an afternoon race meet. Out £5 per race down and had 3/7 winners. A pint between each race, and then lots more pints afterwards after leaving with a huge group of hot babes who didnt know the best places to drink after the racing. Finally headed home from Chester at around 1am with the rest of the lads in a cab (20 miles home). Woke up at some stage the following day and was £15 richer than when i left the previous day.
God knows how much i won and how much i spent - but bascially won a damn good day out plus a few quid on top.0 -
Many years ago when paper boys were the real thing I was delivering the sunday morn. papers in the rain when I espied stuck down on the pavement a £1 note obviously lost by a saturday night reveller. Manna from heaven when you got 12/6p (52 new pence) a week for morning & evening deliveries. If anybody wants to claim it I want to know the serial no. it was carefully lifted & then dried out, it went into the fund for my first decant frame a "freddie grubb". Happy days0

Won £500 in a 3 day golf trip to Ireland. Unfortunately the lunch afterwards (tab picked up by the winner) cost £600......0

Won £500 thanks to my sporting brilliance.
Found £50 in a wallet and returned it to its rightful owner. Giving it back gave me more pleasure than keeping it. Although, I do wonder how much money found in a wallet would make me consider keeping it....Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0 -
Won - nothing
Found - £10 whilst doing a park run & had come out of another runners pocket, stopped to pick it up & still clocked a BP contacted the organisers who reunited the money with the owner who it turns out was a youngsterPain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
Won £4200 on lotto few years back with 5 numbers, ball 48 rolled out I had 47 would of been £4.3 million.
Found £60 in wallet with drivers license credit cards etc and a family picture. I didn't recognise the name but vaguely recognised the picture of a child in my 5 years old class. Handed it my little boy to hand it over to them and they gave him a reward.
Hopefully that karmas gonna cough up that last number!GIANT XTC 2.5

Many years ago out for a walk in a country lane with my 2 young children I found a decant mountain bike in a water filled ditch, retrieved it- drained out the water - took to the police station- it was claimed. I wasn't expecting any monetary reward but a telephone call would have been nice.0

Gabbo did u not think about handing that money you found in?!
i once found a fiver coming out of junior school, but my mum made me hand it in to school and have a note put out that a fiver was found!! wtf!! still dont know what happened to that
winnings wise;
on the horses, i somehow 'cleaned up' at lingfield park on a m8s pre stag do do. i was betting on 2 horses on each race usually e/w, just on a complete random basis (liking the names) and i think there was 6-7 races and not betting big either, and just kept winning often with both my picks getting placed, finishing up with 5-600quid it was ridiculous. i was obliged to buy beers for the coach of 30 blokes for the journey home and then wasted most of the rest of it during the course of the evening once we had got back to our home town.
biggest single winning on one horse was probably on the GN when i was a kid (well too young to legally bet, my parents allowed me a GN bet, which they put on for me!)when some random horse, maybe brave highlander, maybe st mellion fairway got a place and it was ridiculous odds.
my biggest ever up was $3.3k after an epic 3 hour blackjack session (christ it was boring in the end) in the cosmopolitan in LV a couple of years ago. i laid down $500 on a $25 a hand table on the last night, (as i had a lot of cash i had already budgeted for not spent somehow, so i though f*** it first time in LV gotta do it!, and i had already budgeted to what i was prepared to spend on that trip so i was happy to risk $500)
i only kept playing as i was vainly trying to pull the fittest croupier i had ever seen who was on rotation on my table, (i mean i would have walked away with more modest winnings long before i ended up where i did), it had only meant to have been a brief pre club game, but as i kept winning my m8s just watched me instead of going the club in the cosmo (still havent managed to go there!). i finally walked away when my m8s had got bored and left me to it and i realised i was wasting my time with the croupier.
BUT by this stage i was slightly the worse for wear what with all the comps, and as it was the last night (albeit well into the early hours) i ended up losing most of it very quickly as i slowly wound my way back to the wynn where we were staying, by visiting the palazzo and venetian making 'c**ts bets' on the blackjack tables trying to look like some sort of high roller! (i hate those casinos now becasue of that!) when i woke up later that morning i was a tad peed off to say the least and found it difficult coming to terms with the fact i had allowed myself to lose such an amount of money when i could have effectively paid for the whole trip had i had a bit more sense . i was well fun on the plane home!!
i ended up consoling myself with the fact that i never had that money in the first place, so i just lost money i shouldnt have had anyway.... not much but it helped a bit!
never ever come anywhere near that since in a casino. now on the rare occasions i go to aspers at stratford or when in LV i just walk away if ive doubled up my initial stake or once ive lost it.0 -

wtf is it with craps! some kind hearted rodeo folks tried to teach us in LV last year but we were still clueless. most random confusing gam in the world.0

I did, I went into Barclays bank the following morning and asked them to deposit £450 into my account.
As for handing the money in elsewhere - where am I going to hand it in to? Rail staff? Must be kidding. No ID, and at a small station I very much doubt it would go anywhere other than their back pockets.
If there was ID or any form of safely returning the money, I would have done so. Just don't trust those bastard workers.0 -

I havent got a clue, you can win when you lose which is a bonus, depending on the way others bet ?

It seems lots of you guys have been to vegas, I love it, my fav place on earth, someone should start a best hotel in vegas thread as its always good to understand how other people see certain places.Living MY dream.0 -

I stayed at the MGM Grand. Thought it was very nice and a reasonable price for a good hotel. Bellagio looked lovely, though. Out of my price range nonetheless. Those Donald Trump hotels are quite pricey (Wynn/Encore)
Anyway Vegas - best 5 days of your life!0 -
the wynn and encore are not trump hotels.
I stayed at the MGM in november, I didnt like it, but ive been spoiled as I have stopped at the belagio and wynn, encore and palazzo.
You know you can get a flight from london to vegas at £580 return and book a suite through US sites for around £350 for 5 nights so between 2 is around £750 which is a bargain for a life changing holiday.
Another thing is food, in vegas you can spend as little or as much as you like and the food quality is the same, everything is good, service is excellent (always is in the USA).
Last night always eat at Hard Rock on the strip overlooking the pole dance bar opposite.Living MY dream.0 -
Of course not. It's named after Steve Wynn... I knew that :-D0

ive only been LV twice but could cr*p on about it all day!, hence it needs its own thread!

Can ‘won’ cover an insurance claim or successful damages via the courts? If so – I ‘won’ £22k when I got knocked down a couple of summers ago and myself and my collegues managed to ‘win’ a large amount of money when we went after a large luxury brand after they ripped our music off. D1cks.0

The most I've ever won was £125 on the Lotto.
As a family, Mrs Slog once won a small boat in a free prize draw. This was a nice inflatable dinghy with a wooden transom and seat, proper job, not the ones you buy at the seaside. Worth about £500 at the time, 20 yrs ago.
I think the most I've ever found is a fiver.
The older I get, the better I was.0 -
As a child (so this would be 30 years ago), walked past a coin on a zebra crossing thinking it rude to hold up traffic when it wasn't silver and therefore it was probably only a 1p or 2p.
My mother picked coin up - we all told her to hurry up and when we got to the pavement asked her if it was really worth it. Answer was a definite yes - the coin was a krugerrand.0 -

Not in 9 years it won't. When you were promised to be able to retire at 60 and now probably have to work until an hour or so before you die !! And even then you will have to pay back any holiday pay owing.Living MY dream.0
