I visited the montonbike site tonight for the first time in ages and its had quite a makeover. They have gone to town with the Bianchi products and if you click the link you can view the pink Bianchi Milano shortsleeved copy jersey that for £20 quid delivered to your door just blew me away

This isnt an open door to for those who insist on only the licensed product to vent their wrath, there are 4 jerseys which are an absolute no - no for me :

World Champ Rainbow, I genuinely believe the only wearer should be the exalted one who won it.
Yellow TDF winner as I think it would be like a magnet for scorn amongst some.
Green TDF sprint jersey because I think it sucks visually and I dont like it.
Polka Dot KOM, I think its a visual abhorration and me wearing it would be an absolute joke

I think the montonbike pink bianchi looks just great and I know its links to the Giro and Id hope it wouldnt be a magnet that attracts undue and unwarranted attention. Would the pink jersey be one you would be comfortable or uncomfortable wearing out on a ride ?

Again Im not interested in slanging matches over chinese copy jerseys as we all have our opinions, just interested in the question posted above :D

Think it looks "retro" enough in styling to warrant not breaking your own rules Re GT tops.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Nothing wrong with wearing pink or that particular jersey. If you like it, I don't see why others opinions matter. If someones going to look down on you for what you're wearing, that's their problem - pity them.

Personally, I don't like the shade of pink. Few washes and it'll fade due to poor quality.

Its not the pink shade that concerns me, ive got a ONCE pink eroski which I think kicks ar$e , its just would wearing a Giro jersey attract sniffs and hrumphs like wearing the rainbow jersey might ?

Nope, I didn't even associate it with the Giro when I looked at it. It'd be silly to rule it out just because it shares the same colour with the Giro lead jersey.

There are various colours which lead jerseys come in, would we have to avoid all those, too?

The Giro isn't as mainstream as the TDF, so I think you're in the clear with this one.

Nothing wrong with that top buddy! For the price I'd crack on!

I've just received new Rapha pro team bibs & jersey with pink! Love the colour (for my sins) and think it looks particularly good in cycling
  • Forgive me for being a noob, but...

How is wearing a replica TDF leaders jersey different from wearing replica TDF team kit? 99% of people on this site aren't pros...

Wearing team kit is fine - it's showing an allegiance to that team (in the same way a football supporter will wear the jersey of their favourite team). I have no issue at all with that.

But wearing a replica maillot jaune is seen as disrespectful to the jersey as it something that needs to be 'earned' by hard work. I wouldn't wear one - but not really my business if others do. Does always make me laugh when you see some larger gent in a KoM top huffing and puffing up a slight incline though.

There's all sorts of weird 'rules' on jerseys - in audax world, if you pick up a commemorative jersey at the start of a big event, you should not put it on until you've finished the event (i.e. you've earned it). Some people might put it on once they reach only a couple of hundred km to go (and are confident that they'll finish). Personally, I won't put the jersey on until I finish. If you do not finish the ride - give the jersey away - you've not completed the challenge, you've no right to wear it.

As I said, weird - all superstitious and nonsense - but that's cycling!
  • I've been wearing this jersey since I was a young fan of the 'dream' team back in 2005

    Jan+Ullrich+Lance+Armstrong+2005+Tour+de+France+gZtf7n0yYLBl.jpg

It attracted more attention than any other pink shirt i've owned..
  • Looks like a pink Bianchi jersey to me and not a Giro replica so I would wear it without a thought - I wear a yellow jersey for visibility but its not a TDF replica top so no issues.

If you had any real respect for Bianchi as a brand you wouldn't buy illegal fake copies of thier products. If these people opened a shop on a UK high street they'd be shut down within days by trading standards. Anyone buying this stuff are funding criminals. Considering that you can buy similar priced jerseys from loads of legit places in the UK I just don't understand why people buy this stuff or maybe they want to look like they've bought the real thing without actually spending the cash. I'll wait for someone to tell me that Bianchi or some other brand is a rip off anyway, well if it is why would you want to pretend to be wearing it?

Looks like a nice jersey and shouldn't clash with the maglia rosa really as the big bianchi print makes it look retro.

One thing with light coloured kit though is you need a good physique if you want to look good, any additional ballast is often quite noticable.

Why should he respect your wishes since you don't accord other forum users the same privilege? That's assuming you're genuine in your wishes, of course. Going on past evidence, I suspect you'd love nothing more than to start this sort of argument.

    This one is nicer:

    Real Bianchi Jersey

In terms of the jersey, wear what the hell you like... I'd suggest that it's more of a classic homage so wouldn't contravene the 'rules' on wearing jerseys that have to be earned.

Spot on my man, I would not encourage anybody to buy from a website that does not even offer a trading address, and yes at that price its a cheap knock off.

Saw one in the window of Micycle in Stroud Green yesterday and was thinking the same thing. And decided if an independent bike shop says it's ok, it must have the snobs' approval

Only if worn with your cycling lycra though :) Think it would look OK cycling, commuting or down the pub as it has that retro look too it.

For somebody who sends a lot of time on here moaning about the snobbery of others to then spout off about not wearing certain jerseys because of 'respect' smacks to me of hypocrisy.

Wear whatever YOU like. I like some of the Bianchi jerseys. This one in particular:
