Strange title i know, but bare with me...
I have a 2010 GT avalanche 3.0 sitting in my shed. I never use it now I have my Tricross. Literally hasn't been moved in 2 years... The other half mentioned it to her mam last night who is looking to get a mountain bike for the brother in law. Now I've got the idea in my head of getting the cash for it and putting it towards some rollers. But I don't know whether it is worth giving the mountain bike up for. What would you do?
I know it is coming upto summer so they wont get used much, so my thought is to keep the cash and put some extra towards it, and get some resistance ones in about Sept time.
I would prefer rollers because I want the ease of just putting the bike on it and going, no hassle changing the rear wheel or anything like that, since I will be using the Tricross which is my commuter also.

Personally i wouldnt give up a mountain bike as i love trail riding as well as road riding, however if your mtb is going totally unused then you are not really getting any benefit from it so maybe rollers would be a better option for you.
As for rollers - i recently got sportcrafter ones without resistance and you can buy the resistance unit later on if required. Dont really think i'll bother getting it as i can get a good enough workout on them without plus it is hopefully helping to improve my souplesse.0 -
that is just it, the mtb is going completely unused. But I like having it there as a backup second bike. But I think it may get better use of the rollers... I get far more enjoyment out of road riding than anything I ever did on the mountain bike. I think I'd get about £175 for it but for that I'm not sure if it is worth giving up for such a low sum of money, arghh I don't know, I cant afford both really.0
