Car hire in Mallorca

I'm off to Mallorca with a friend at the end of the month, we have just about everything covered apart from car hire, does anyone have any recommendations and or good previous experience?

It will need to be big enough to fit both our bike boxes and ideally with pickup from the airport.

thanks

Try Record rentacar. I've used them a few times and they're pretty cheap. Worth joining their membership scheme if you might ever rent in spain again. Gives you about a tenner off your next hire.
I've hired the Citreon Nemo from them - about £120 for a week usually. Drives like a it's got a lawnmower engine but loads of space in the back. Plenty of other vehicles available if you value your street cred too much for a Nemo.
Be careful as some companies say on airport, but you get driven by minibus to somewhere a few miles away to get the car.
Can make it a nightmare returning the car - at least the airport is well signposted.

I'll be there myself from the 2nd April, so maybe see you there!

Centauro well worth a go. Ford focus estate was about 110 for 12 days and took two bikes easily in boxes

    Terry's car hire.
No queuing (you car is waiting in the airport car park, keys in a key safe that they text the number to you)
    No insurance excess ripoffs
    3 drivers insured
Petrol tank is full and included in the price. Bring it back empty!

How many times would you have to drive around the island to empty it?

There are many car rental companies but all have different terms and policies, so you can check online their terms and also their rent prices. There is also problem of insurance some companies provide you insured vehicle while in other you have to insured your-self. Its better to check online instead of going in the market..

Car hire verywhere is a nightmare.

is all about preseenting a cheap as possible price online and then charguing you extra at point of service via one ro more of
    full tank paid return empty
additional insurances or having to leave huge deposit
or unsrcupulous ones charging you for scratches that were already there etc.
or simly not havbing the car you ordered and trying to palm you off witha cheaper one

I've used Record in Majorca nad they are OK, although do havethe extra insurance thing, but at least you return with same level of petrol.

the Renault Kangoo style vans are a good bet for cheap with plenty of luggage space.

We hired from Sixt who are based in Palma airport - pretty much all the big names are downstairs in a parking garage.

We had a spotless Renault Clio which looked like a stop spec model, very pleased. Bit on the pricey side.

My in-laws hired from Goldcar, which was quite a bit cheaper, and they also got good service and a brand new, clean, car.

I've not had any trouble with hire cars in Mallorca, most of the reviews you see are of people complaining of queues, but I've always been there at the end of April and it's always just been a case up walking up to the hire desk and been served immediately.

Back in 2007 I used Record car hire and they were good too, I didn't go with them this time because of bad reviews due to long queues, but again their was none.

Since you are going in school holidays, I expect the situation will differ!
