  • Yeah, I tightened the stem bolts too, but there was still some movement, so I tightened up the top bolt and now there isn't any movement. As fas as I can tell, anyway!

    I actually don't have a LBS!
  • So, can someone recommend an affordable torque wrench for the Cube LTD? :D

That should be fine youll want a socket wrench in the same size to go with it for removing the bolts (never remove things with a torque wrench) im assuming you have pliers, spanners hex keys an the like?

Oh also a socket extender is handy at times ;)
  • What do you mean when you say the same size? I have a socket wrench that I use for the motorbike, and tons of hex keys and spammers. Just need to check I've got a decent 15mm fixed spanner for the pedals as I haven't put them on yet.

I'll be picking up a multitool soon for travel. Back to the torque wrench, will my own bits be ok, or do I need special ones?
  • Also, I meant to ask, am I ok to just go ahead and cut the seat post? As suspected, the riding position is too high even when fully inserted into the frame. Really pleased with the sizing of the bike though and the geometry though. The handlebars are quite low, and fixed, which will take some getting used to - but I like it!
  • I have the same bike and yeah it looks gorgeous just learning about the stuff before I take it out.. Is it safe to fully insert the seat all the way? I mean these is a line on the seat post which I am not sure what it is for but I don't see any stop marker. it says 'it is important that the seat is not pushed down too far into the frame' but how far is too far?

Also the back wheel which was already pre assembled does rub ever so slightly...would that just need running in or will it need adjusting.
  • anyone?

Sorry Yoda forgot to reply to this earlier. If you have a 3?8 set for your motorbike then you should well be fine with extenders spanners and "fine adjustment devices"
If you need a fixed spanner just pop to a local motor factor mine has a whole wall of the things so i cant see a problem even halfords stock individual ones.
Your own bits will be perfectly fine on them you dont need special ones unless your using an impact gun.

Seat post myself ive never had a problem with the stem not going all the way in. Have you got any bolts in the frame that could be stopping it? Im not the best person to ask re chopping stems down it may be like handle bars it may not.

Scotty whats the wheel rubbing on?

well actually it isn't the actual wheel as far as I can tell, I think it is the disc brake rotor rubbing against the bit they spin through..

also another noob question but when I use the 'pop lock' lever to lock the suspension, it doesn't fully lock it. Is that normal? And are the forks preset to 100mm, havent figured out how to adjust em yet...The manual you get is hopeless.

Bit they spin through as in the brake caliper? If its constant its either pads need bedding in or adjusting if its only on one bit it could be the rotors slightly out of line so not flush to the wheel hub or warped slightly so best getting it off to check.
Poploc I don't know about im afraid.

yeah must be brake caliper, cant be anything else I dont think? it is fairly consistant the noise (not loud or anything), it isnt causing much resistance but still... it is new so shouldnt be warped right? maybe it needs adjusting slightly? I will probably just phone em up and see what they say..
  • well I spoke to em they said that is normal and it just needs bedding in.

Id bed them in first, if they are like car brakes then you have to bed then in to get the best from them anyway. I have a set of Shimano M596s the rear did make some noise until id done about 20 miles on it now its perfect
