Feel free to berate me but I do love my Rapha bike gear what with form & function both being high on the list of their output once you get of the arm & leg requirement to purchase their items. Normally a bit fan of their style of photography as quite into my B&W shots.

However today I as I'm sure many of you have received an email confirming their new city riding spring summer 2013 collection is out.

    http://www.rapha.cc/city-riding-spring- ... sel-_-ss13

Is it me or does it look like a Gap/pod ad from back in the day only on a p poor budget. Plus I am an avid photographer myself but have never asked a model to stand there and "just look like your about to start licking the windows please, you know open your mouth and look like you have just escaped from a home or something"
Oh I'll give you a prize for guessing which model just did a poo in his jeans, either that or he's going for the frank spencer award

Rant over - sorry I am on medication today due to feeling unwell

Prick. A throwaway comment to you, a massive insult to others. Think about what you say, you fuckin massive cunnt.

+1 - you beat me to it. Stuff like this just reinforces perception that it's ok to laugh at people with learning disabilities. They get enough crap without stuff like this.

Well I am sorry if I have offended you & I do humbly apologise for my use of this example, if you think I was reinforcing a stereo type that it is OK to laugh at anybody with a mental/physical disability as I am certainly not laughing at any such group. I perhaps should have picked a less sensitive metaphor for not only a badly composed photo shoot but also one that I think devalues their brand which is built up on a particular style of B&W photography. I in no way condone any sort of socio demographic slur but can see how my post may have caused offence.

    As for you post well you are right;
    A) I do as a male have that equipment
    B) Can not comment on that part
    C) I as a male do not have that equipment

If you want to make a point you could have freely PM'd me and advised me that you were offended and I would have readily made such an apology & I could have perhaps edited my post accordingly.

However you by your actions on an internet forum are marking yourself out as a person who is making an insulting throw away comment, which I could quite rightly be offended by. The difference I feel being that I am happy to make my apologies public for any offence they have caused & if the Mods of BR wish to take further action regarding my post such as removing, locking or even regarding my membership I will of course have to take that on the chin as they are my actions & my actions alone.

I only wish that you can see that my unfortunate choice of metaphor of which has caused such offence and your suggestion that I am an insulting such a group has I fear caused you to reply with a far more offensive personal insult towards me. One which I would never wish upon any single person or group of people.

I won't bore you with the details but if someone had made a comment that I felt was detrimental to the group to which I belong I would love to say that I would not blow up but in reality I probably would do exactly as you did.

I don't in any way expect you to ever forgive me & I can never take back what I have said or done. If there is anything at all I can do please do feel free to PM me as I am willing to try to make this up to you.

I think you are too old for this collection... it is aimed for another crowd, clearly... you should stick to the National Jerseys and those with the stripe...

I think the clothes are OKish. The photos look like Rapha spent most of their efforts this year on Team Sky, and did this shoot as an afterthought.

I like Rapha stuff, wouldn't get the 'city line' gear but the classic jersey, pro team jersey, base layers, etc are all fab. Can't really get on with the bibs, prefer castelli, otherwise like everything I've tried.

Have some of their base layers etc and find them very good, if a little expensive but you do get high quality stuff from them IMHO.

Try to look at this 'City' range a different way.

Forget that it's cycling gear, and look at it instead as 'casual clothing' and you'll get it. I've bought quite a lot of it but never wear it on the bike - to me it has the style of Prada, Paul Smith etc but smaller price tags and better quality (and for me a better cut).

When you look at it like this, and take into account that a shirt can cost £100 in Reiss, then the Rapha 'City' gear stacks up.
  • In an ideal world I would turn up at a group ride with everyone in Rapha kit, that way I am guaranteed I don't have to ride with poor people!!

No am quite ill at the moment so doubt thats on the cards, think we both said things in hindsight that we shouldn't have & have both apologised publicly and via PM. Still feel bad as I should have known better & if I hadn't started this post wouldn't have wound up so many people.

Still think the ad looks rubbish though - some of the city tops look OK, but don't think I will be buying any of it.

I just got a Rapha musette bag from the bay, not the biggy messenger type but a small cotton one for long rides where self sustenance is required. I like Rapha, seems a bit homo-erotic (nothing wrong with that, btw but it is sort of Fellini ish too) at times or indulging itself a little, this is where the JVA army kicks in and normality is balanced out.
I like the gear, wish I could afford it, just ignore some of the bumph they put out.

Tell me about it the price at times does worry me, I'm by no means rich but have some of their basic items but they do seem to last. Think my one extravagance from them was my jacket but had that for 4 years now and it has paid for itself.

Wanted a musette from them for christmas but santa couldn't afford the postage so went with a solo version, guess they do the same thing though.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
