I was planning on going out this afternoon after some lunch. I've been on my 12 hour shift week and haven't been on the bike since last Friday. Look outside and see some snow flurries, think nothing of it. Just looked now, its blowing a bloody blizzard
So i thought i'd turn on the TV and see what's on football wise. Edinburgh derby is on, 50 miles away in glorious sunshine.
Ah well, thankfully the cycling starts soon on Eurosport.

Same, second weekend in a row I planned to have a good ride out on the Sunday and its wasted. I actually for the first time this year managed to ride in the sunshine on Wednesday. Now its like the middle of Siberia again. Boooo!!0

Sun starting to come out here on the Wirral, windy and cold though :evil:0

Same here - snow flurries, freezing cold, windy. Got 24 miles in, better than nothing0

Sleeting here also. Fortunately yesterday was ok so managed a steady 40 miler. Went out with 2 undergrads from work. Both 20 years younger than me. They are training for a L2P in June. Lets just say they have some work to do between now and then.0

Not too bad darn sarf, a bit chilly until you warm up and OK until you turn into the wind. Plenty of peeps out this morning, guess they all want to get back and watch the rugby.0
-
Not to bad today although a right pain into that strong eastwind... What I do on days like this is a local loop of about 15 miles which goes past my house so if it deteriorates or theres an emergency or i get fed up then I'm not too far from home. Did it twice today so got in about 30. A bit boring but I think there will be better days for exploring the country0
-
Aberdeenshire is the same. I'll be watching instead if riding today!0

Headed out east with the club this morning - flakes of snow falling and a dusting on the Pennines. Wind wasn't too bad on the way out but it was cold. Stopped for cake at Tadcaster and came back - wind freshening to a nice tailwind, watching my shadow cycling along beside me in the sunshine with just that hint of sun warmth. 54 miles and I'm happy with that. To think I nearly didn't bother!Faster than a tent.......0

2 separate blizzards interspersed with blue skies and blazing sun plus a biting east wind for me in Glasgow today. Lovely!0

The good thing is it's Sunday and you can ride through the Mersey Tunnel and have 6 km of windless, dry (relative)warmth. Just been to Evans's in Liverpool and got 40% of a cassette they price matched with Chain Reaction- happy days.0 -

So that's why it was cheap.0 -

Alarm went off at 6:30 for the usual early Sunday ride west of Aberdeen, with the forecast for snow @ 11:00. Back to bed, as it got gradually worse during the morning :roll:All the gear, but no idea...0 -

I dont know how you guys cope with it. The weather was bad but the wind hit my face and made me feel like razers were being smashed on my face, it was horrid.Living MY dream.0 -

Thats exactly what the guy at check in at Aberdeen Airport said.
I walked 40 yards from the taxi to the front doors and almost needed resuscitating !!!Living MY dream.0 -
I was meant to be doing the local reliability ride in Market Drayton, but the kids ended up doing some school thing in the local church so could play.
On the way back from the church I passed some of the guys finishing the ride, was kind of glad I missed the ride as they looked very peed off!0 -
Despite the freezing weather I managed my longest ever ride today - a solo 57 miles with 3500ft of climbing.

I am not entirely sure if I enjoyed it or not....lol
The ride from Bristol to Clevedon was great, mainly due to the caning tailwind, things started getting ugly about Cheddar gorge, the wind was utterly freezing and just went right through you, and my feet were blocks of ice, and once on the top it seemed to be about 10x as strong. I think I may have actually just frozen like Jack Nicholson in the Shining had I not managed to buy a cup of tea from some Roysten Vasey style corner shop, that seemed to defrost me enough to get thoroughly lost and eventually limp home.

I live just up the coast. It was a clear day.
I looked out the window and thought to myself "I'll go out on my weekend cycle after the rugby" . Literally In the time it took me to get my gear on, it went from clear skies to all white outside :-(
