The Minute of Power

Got a thing at work coming up next week with the prize being a £2000 bike.
Basically they are bringing a WattBike in and whoever cycles the furthest in one minute wins the prize.
Any advice about gearing, warming up, standing/seated, training ideas would be tremendously handy.
Cheers

it likely won't be a cyclist that wins it, me thinks.Team4Luke supports Cardiac Risk in the Young0

warm up a bit - it'll be all anaerobic so just enough to avoid injury. Standing if you can maiantain a higfh cadence? TRaining before wont help - too short time!!0

For 1min I'd stand up and sprint to get the power and speed up to begin with, then sit for a bit, maybe 20s, then stand up and sprint the last 20-30s. If you try to stand and sprint the whole 1min you'll almost certainly be dying by the end. It may only be a minute, but you can still go too hard at the start and balls it up. I'd have thought that If you can manage >700W for the minute then you'll probably have a chance.More problems but still living....0

Was having an experiment in the gym last night with a few different ways of doing it. Standing at the start to get going definitely seems to make sense, keeping as much power on whilst seated for 30 secs then standing at around 40 secs to start one final burst to the end.
Could easily be a non-cyclist who prevails but should be fun.Canyon AL Ultimate 9.00 -
I'd have thought a trackie would win it.
Mind you what would I know. I did Rollapaluza last year and I was ashamed to be beaten by gym monkeys.....More problems but still living....0 -
