Staring out the window...

...You know that feeling when sometimes you've already had a busy week on the bike and you find yourself staring out the window thinking, "I need to go out on the bike but I can't be bothered"... You just don't have the motivation to put the kit on and brace the cold, what do you do to make it happen?
My brother puts his kit on the radiator the night before, what do other people do?

you do one of the following:
1 just get on with it
2 realise you need a day off
3 ask yourself why you are doing this and then choose 1 or 2
4 tell yourself there is more to life than lycra, so go on the beer/ out with her indoors/ play with the kids0 -
Oh I know the feeling too well. With the weather at the moment being so cold (+ windy), it can be pretty hard to go through the long process of taking off your warm clothes and putting on your kit, still slightly damp from the previous ride.
I do try to get my kit warm before I change into it, does help But the thing to remember is that once you get past the first few miles, it's all good0 -
I have never not gone out 'just because I can't be bothered' tbh.
Its either I cant because it's either dangerous, injured, or don't have the time.
Just go out for half an hour and see how you feel. You don't 'have' to go out and do 50 miles.
Doing short sessions are just as important as slogging out the long ones. It all adds up to time on the bike.0 -

Ditto, quite often after a stressful week at work I don't really 100% drawn to heading up. But it's surprising how often the feeling goes once you've got 5-10miles in the legs. Sometimes you still feel tired or crap, in which case head back for feet up and coffee. 8/10 though i find I'm firing once I've got going.0 -
Rob De Castella world class marathon runner and I quote.
"Instead of laying in bed thinking about why you should not go for a run, go for one then think about if you should have gone or not when you get back "!
I have run and raced competativly for 30 years and not once have I had a day of because i didnt feel like it.
