Boardman Air 9.8

I bought this last Sept (new) from the classifieds here and apart from a 7 mile shakedown ride in October 2012 it has been stored for the winter. I'm itching to climb aboard it now.
I've never had anything but Italian bikes before, all self built (I currently have a Bianchi 928 and a Colnago Asso in addition to the Halfords special ) and never thought I'd buy anything like this.
I know the fence needs work, the cranks are not in perfect alignment and the cages are mismatched (still trying to decide which is best) but I thought I'd post it up for some abuse.
When I saw the advert (I wasn't intending on spending quite as much as I did) I was smitten and had to have it.
I love the build and the matching details and can't wait to use the SRAM in anger.
Be kind....

I dont like Halfords ......or Boardmans.......or Chris Boardman......
........but I think you've just converted me.. That looks awesome0 -
I love this, i remember when it was for sale, (i think its the same one), i nearly bought it!
Its look superb! dont change a thing! The bottle cage, i would go with the elite ones, these have proven to be easy to get the bottle in without looking and keeping control, I had sworks ones on my bike and they were a nightmare.0 -

I agree, bit of a knobby comment.0 -
Looks great w/ the SRAM Red LTD Ed. Tour Gruppo. Very nice , what does it weigh?0
-
Hi all, thanks for the comments....It looks fantastic in the flesh.
It weighs about 17kg. I've only ridden it once so far on a very short ride and it felt 'alive'. I never really believed you could feel such differences like those you read in reviews but this was totally different to anything I have ever ridden before. The SRAM gearchange is terrific (I've only ever had Campag before) and you quickly get used to the double tap method.
I've just done a 40 mile ride today on my Colnago and the roads are drying up nicely so hopefully I'll be able to do the Boardman justice in the coming weeks0 -

Looks sweet! I always have a look at the boardmans when buying from halfrauds (only when I absolutely have to)
And am always impressed with them for their value and specs

That's a nice bike, fella... Very nice
But, I think you meant 17lbs as opposed to kg's!
I'd have gone for Fizik bar tape, but that's just me...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

You bet me to it! I watched the documentary on You Tube about the hour record (part 1 here http://youtu.be/K3DwhbUGUIg) and Boardman seemed a bit of a cock to be honest.
Being a Scot I would never buy a Boardman, but your bike does look nice.
EDIT: Love the profanity filter on here! Let's just say I didn't write fool initially!
SECOND EDIT: Having just watched some of that again, Boardman is an absolute wan**r!0 -
Cracking that really nice. 17kg you sure? I'd buy some new scales0
-
Nah..changed it above...its 7.4 kg
"My bad"..as the children say0
