Has anyone got recommendations for a long sleeve jersey for road riding around this time of year. Looking for something below £60 if possible. Many thanks

I use a winter jacket with the appropriate base layers throughout winter and then switch to a short sleeve jersey with arm warmers and a gilet when it gets milder. Never find the need for a long sleeve jersey tbh.Specialized Venge S Works

Giordana Silverline jerseys are really good. I've got a bunch of top end long sleeve jerseys for the 'best days' but my Silverline is the go-to jersey for training. With the code EXTRA10 you can get one under £60.

Got a cheap dhb thing that does the job, windproof gilet over the top if its really cold.

Personally, I would go with armwarmers, windproof gilet / baselayer & ss jersey now, hoping the Arctic conditions won't reappear for a few months.
If you get that ground effect one, size at least 1 size down, their sizing is way off (got a windproof softshell jacket off them, which is nice but too warm unless it's below zero).0 -

This fits the bill, I've got two of the short sleeved jerseys from Torm, now nearly two years old and recently bought this, out today in it and didn't feel cold, no base layer. Quality is great. I compared the colour (Red) between the two year old jersey which has seen many miles and washes, and the new one, no difference.0 -
I have been using a More Mile Mens Thermal Reflective Cycling Jersey Cycle Jacket when out in the mornings and at lunch times, found only needed to wear a T-Shirt underneath Sub £30 so a bargain.---

I would second Torm. I cannot rate their products and customer service highly enough. They basically spotted a market niche for Rapha-esque quality without the cappuccino marketing. I have the T5 and it's my go-to ls jersey.Never mistake motion for action

Just purchased a coulpe of dhb Momentum's from Wiggle, only £38.00 each and seem very good.
I spent most of yesterday in one with no problems at all.0 -

Wore my T5 yesterday with a windstopper baselayer. Just right for 10c.
My only issue (and it is a not-picking quibble) is that the pockets could be a couple of inches deeper.
Reccomended without hesitationCoach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')0 -
It's not cycling-specific but I've been rocking an Under Armour Coldgear turtleneck baselayer under a Lidl winter jersey/jacket. It's really long in the body, compression-fit, wicks amazingly and it's warm. £30-odd if you hunt around.Scott Sportster P45 2008 | Cannondale CAAD8 Tiagra 20120

Funkier. Merlin and either JE James or Rutland cycling were offering last years at a discount. Great value, nice cut & good quality. Lusso might also be worth a look.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

Great flexible bit of kit. I would ride this now with a (thermal) l/s base baselayer & regular gilet . It's mid weight. Again, the quality is great - a bargain at £20.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
Some useful info here. I though long sleeve jerseys were for audax riders and people with panniers.0

I read that as a soft shell as opposed to a regular LS Jersey. It still rarely gets over 5 or 6 degrees and the wind is rather cold. I would opt for something with windproof front/sleeves e.g Windtex, Gore Windstopper etc.
If you just mean a lycra jersey with long sleeves then I agree with arm warmers instead.
Unless of course you burn easily, then a normal LS jersey could be the answer in the summer.Yellow is the new Black.0 -

Total opposite here - have ordered and subsequently sent back just about every arm-warmer I can find. Only one of them fits properly - all the others either fall down or are so tight that I cant bend my elbow. I guess I just have more muscular forearms than anyone who can wear arm-warmers...
Wear my long sleeve jerseys all the time in the winter - sometimes with a long sleeve really thin merino base layer underneath. Short sleeve jerseys only come out for spin sessions in the last 4 months.0 -
Santini jerseys are really good and pretty well priced. Wiggle have the H2O water resistant ls jersey at 50% off (£60) at the moment, which is a bargain!

I guess it's down to personal choice - the above solution for me would be a waste of time; pulling on 3 items instead of 1. But, yes, if you're short on funds, you could use ss jersey and arm warmers under gilet/wind jacket through Winter. A ls jersey is just more comfortable and practical.
Dont confuse ls jerseys with softshells - the latter is obviously a jacket.Never mistake motion for action

Indeed. But just because that is our understanding does not mean everyone thinks that way

Rapha Brevet Long SLeeve Jersey, but slightly over the OP's budget.0

ShutUpLegs wrote:Rapha Brevet Long SLeeve Jersey, but slightly over the OP's budget.
yeah slightly
This is the issue, I have to admit to owning a few bits of Rapha and it's top drawer gear no question, however the T5 is £85 cheaper and it's of similar construction, perhaps slightly lighter weight sportwool I'd say?
If I was loaded it wouldn't be an issue, but I'm not and it is.0 -
I had the Rapha LS jersey and although its a beautiful bit of kit the arms are actually a touch short so I had a 1 inch gap between the top of my gloves and the bottom of the jersey arm. Anyway I've sold it now and just use arm-warmes, SS jersey and gilet and its much better for me.0

I do have some arm warders, but don't find them very comfortable. The Torm looks good so I've ordered a T5. Living in Northumberland it rarely gets 5 or 6 degrees at this time of year and all my s sleeve jerseys are very thin. Really don't want the hassle of base layer, arm warmers, gilet and ss jersey if 1 good long sleeve will do the job. Might have a look at some soft shell jackets too. Thanks again guys.Light bike, fat rider.0

Colomba jerseys are meant to be good and similar price to the Torm ones.0
