The frame looks ace, but why, for the love of God, did you have the cranks done???

Believe it or not I asked for the cranks to be done black, but the message never got passed on so I now have a purple Hammerschmidt.

Looks awesome, could I possibly get the details of the place that did the anodizing as I have a few bits I want doing.
    Cheers

Hi Mike, I had to jump through hoops to get this frame done, I tried lots and lots of different companies but I found only one who would touch a bike frame. I will contact them to see if they are happy for me to pass on their details.
Many thanks, I don't want a full frame doing, just a few bits and pieces.

Commuting into work on a bike would be foolish and nigh on impossible, only a flight of stairs separate my home and my workplace and riding a bike down the steps would result in some sort of head/neck injury. I will post pics of the P7 when finished, its gonna look like a lesbians bedroom !!!!!!! :o

Made a few changes this week, I am not keen on travel adjust forks so I have changed the Fox 36 Talas rlc's for a pair of Rockshox Lyrik solo air 160 RC's. I like the simplicity of the Lyriks and I have always found that non travel adjust forks feel smoother. I am also upgrading my Haven wheelset to ceramic bearings and Easton have released a free upgrade for the rear hub which solves the problem of the preload collar coming loose, so while I wait to sort the Haven's out I will be fitting my Stans Flow factory wheelset. Also swapped the 50mm renthal stem for a 65mm Raceface Atlas model, I may swap back yet, just need to get a few rides in to see which feels better. Also fitted a bargainous Selle Italia Yutaak Ti saddle, looks good , feels good and was only £20 new ( Its one of those test saddles but the gold test saddle badge wiped off with an alcohol wipe) I also have a set of 740mm Rental Fatbar lites I may stick on as I like the colour.

I like the Purple finish. Those 160mm All Mountain monsters aren't the types of bikes you want every component to match . . . leave that for the roadies. These trail thrashers deserve completely outrageous paint schemes, and every colour under the rainbow. All you need now is some Lime Green finishing kit, some Red bolts, something Blue, etc 8)

I fully agree, and to honour your post I have just fitted a blingy pair of gold twenty6 flat pedals 8) I do think think that lime green and purple look sweet together but I like the blue bits.

Here she is with her new bits on top of a very busy Rivington Pike. Bike feels amazing and I cant wait until we get some dry trails so I can put the bike through it's paces.

Here we go, first ride on it today and I can report it is a lovely place to sit. Gonna order a couple more for when I wear this one out. Weighs 275 grams and feels like it will take lots of abuse. Also decided to swap the Easton Havoc bars / Raceface Atlas stem for a a Renthal Duo stem / Fatbar lite combo, much lighter and looks amazing. As previously mentioned, the Haven wheels will be going back on after I have sorted the hubs. A special mention for the Twenty6 Prerunner Ti axled flat pedals, they are as light as my Xtr spd's and grip to my shoes in such a way I never once missed being clipped in. They have a huge platform for their weight and they should be a good match for the Sombrio Flat shoes I have on the way. I'm giving flat pedals another go as I feel the Strive is going to get me into trouble and quick exits may be called upon  Also added a pair of funky Token Tiramic blue/gold jockey wheels I had from a previous project that never got used. And in a moment of pure weakness I ordered a pair of purple floating rotors with gold rotor bolts !!!!!!!!! My excuse is that the rotors are on offer and I have use of the shimano rotors currently fitted. Finally I am going to stick with the Stans Flow wheelset on this bike as I trust the hubs more and for a little bit more weight they will be much stronger than the Easton Havens . The Havens will be going on my next Hardtail project.

How does the seat compare to others you have tired, I'm keen on a fizik tundra 2. Any chance you have tried that before?

I tried the original Tundra and found it very uncomfortable, having said that the Gobi is comfy but I found it creaked a lot.

Seeing as though purple rotors were on offer at Superstar I reckon it would be rude not to. Also swapped the aluminium pins on my Twenty6 pedals for much tougher steel ones which I have loctited into place. they are grippier than a griipy thing.
