Pasteys Canyon Strive ES 9.0 WIP

I fancied a bike for riding bigger stuff as my Sabbath ht and Cannondale Prophet were very similar so I have sold my Prophet and replaced it with this. Its a 2011 model and in very good kick although I'm going to polish the cranks and fit a Ti anodised pimp kit to the Hammerschmidt. It has the latest Kashima rp23 rear shock and a new set of the latest xt brakes and rotors. There are a few marks to the frame anodising so I am thinking of either polishing it or some nice powdercoat, may even get it blasted and lacquered. I have fitted the latest xt clutch rear mech and shifters, the front Xt shifter operates the Hammerschmidt perfectly. Also swapped the Fat Albert tyres for some Rocket Ron snake skins which I am running tubeless. Haven bars and stem have been swapped for a Rethal duo and 750mm Easton Havocs and grips are Lizard skin chargers, finally added a pair of Xtr m980 spd's. Total bike weight is a not too bad 31lbs exact. Looking very forward to taking it somewhere lumpy.

They are a nice looking set of hoops, I will see how they get on. If they dont make the grade I have a set of factory built stans flow wheels, all i need is a simple adapter to convert the rear to the x-12 standard.

After a bit of searching I have found a local firm that can anodise items up to 2mtrs long !!!!!! I will call them tomorrow to see if they could anodise my frame and crank arms. I'm thinking blue for the frame and goldish Renthal type colour for the crank arms.

I usually dislike gold but that looks very nice, so I'd say leave it how it is as well.

After a lot of thought I am going to leave the frame as is for now. I've polished the crank arms and ordered a blue Nicolai Hammerschmidt pimp kit which should tie in with the knobs on the fork. I will just stick a few blue accents on the bike then leave alone. I will still have the frame done at some point as the black anodising is marked and faded in places which adds character but at the same time bugs the crap out of me, I do fancy having it polished and lacquered at some point. I would do it myself but I'm willing to pay if anyone knows a company that could do it as it will be an utter ball ache to get into all the nooks and crannies.

Here she is with some added blueness. Only thing I'm not too sure about are the gold crank bolts. Bear in mind that the frame is being polished and lacquered, when it's done all the coloured bits will make sense.

No red here although there is a smudge of red grease on the crank bolt I have decided to have the frame powder coated as polishing looks tatty after a while. Gonna take her for a ride this weekend then strip her and take her to the painters although I have yet to decide on a colour, I'm leaning towards fluo lime green.

Totally ignore my last comment, I did a test patch on the top tube in a very fine brushed finish and it looks lovely so the whole frame is going to get the brushed treatment , It's going to involve a fair bit of elbow grease but I am committed to it now I have a nice shiny bald patch on my top tube. I just have to wait for my polishing supplies to turn up.

After a phone call with my anodising man I can confirm that my freshly anodised frame and crank arms are on their way back to me, he said it was a good result and it looks fantastic. Cant wait to see it, I won't mention the colour until I post a pic of the finished article, all I will say is it may split opinion although I'm not arsed as all I want is something unique.

Here is my purple monster, it looks much better under natural light, I will get some pics tomorrow. Turned out better than I had hoped, the anodisers surpassed themselves. After all my recent subdued efforts I thought it was time that Pastey showed his true colours.

Hi Mike, I had to jump through hoops to get this frame done, I tried lots and lots of different companies but I found only one who would touch a bike frame. I will contact them to see if they are happy for me to pass on their details.
