Hi

I've seen these two available at Argos

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 292747.htm

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 091876.htm

Just wondering if anyone knew if any of these are any good. I think IFG-1 is WADA banned but as am amateur I could use all the help I can get

Nothing in the listed ingredients is banned, however equally nothing in the listed substances is actually shown to be performance enhancing.

The 2nd one for example contains no testosterone, but does contain "testofen" which is pretty much fenugreek, you can pick it up in the garden centre or herb aisle of your supermarket. There's no evidence it raises testosterone levels - see e.g. http://supplement-geek.com/nugenix-test ... e-effects/ and linked.

It's just marketed to make you think it's stuff similar to actual banned drugs to grab the gullible wannabe cheat.

If you need help then see a psychiatrist.

As others have pointed out, there's no IGF-1 or testosterone in either of these. But do you, as an amateur, want to risk the side-effects of testosterone?:
    prostate abnormalities and prostate cancer, headache, depression, gastro-intestinal bleeding, nausea, vomiting, cholestatic jaundice, changes in libido, gynaecomastia, polycythaemia, anxiety, irritability, nervousness, asthenia, paraesthesia, hypertension, electrolyte disturbances including sodium retention with oedema and hypercalcaemia, weight gain; increased bone growth, muscle cramps, arthralgia; androgenic effects such as hirsutism, male-pattern baldness, seborrhoea, acne, pruritus, excessive frequency and duration of penile erection, precocious sexual development and premature closure of epiphyses in pre-pubertal males, suppression of spermatogenesis in men and virilism in women; rarely liver tumours; sleep apnoea also reported;

It is banned for a reason you know.

Your still liable for testing by BC even as an amateur.

Is there any evidence that's at all effective? Especially for cycling rather than strength sports?

Yup, pure snake oil. Almost as good as "EP-NO" which works as well as that evil nasty hormone only it is permitted in competition.

  • I seriously hope you're joking!!!

A few years ago (maybe 2006 or so?) there was a TV show called '30 days' made by Morgan Spurlock, the guy who made the documentary film 'Supersize Me'. In one episode of this series he takes a normal middle aged guy (used to be high school swim team captain, now in his 40s and typically overweight and of average fitness etc etc) and sticks him on a training regime including various PEDs. The side-effects of the drugs and his change in behaviour were really rather disturbing and deterred me from ever being tempted by anything like that.

I know you shouldn't put too much faith in TV shows, much less American ones that prize sensationalism over factual accuracy, but why risk your health and sanity for a hobby?! As others have said, they're banned for a reason.

You can get all the nutrient you need from natural food, you just need to research. Beef for creatine, spinach for glutamine and iron, salmon/mackeral for omega 3 essential fats. Supplements are for company profits.

Because of health issues I have been put on a testosterone killing regime. The side effects have been horrendous. I realise you are looking to increase your level not reduce it, BUT, f*@k with your body chemistry at your peril.

    Hi Ballysmate,

If you don't mind me asking what side effects have you personally encountered and why were you treated? (Before anyone comes up with some smart comment I am not interested in "experimenting").

Hope you are on a path towards good health.

I initially thought to PM the previos poster but decided to share on the forum. Thereby it may persuade someone who is thinking of messing with the dark side that there can be consequences.

In Oct 2011 I was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. It was particularly aggressive (Gleason 9). Prostate cancer initially "feeds" on testosterone and the initial therapy involves stopping the supply of testosterone through drugs. The side effects that I suffered included SEVERE depression. Ironic that drugs designed to save your life make you feel suicidal. :? I have always been skinny but any muscle definition disappeared and I became tired, lacking energy and endurance.
I have since had radiotherapy and seem ok for now.
Thank you for your kind wishes.

This link tells the story of a guy who had similar experience.
