Cramp on The Turbo

Hi, I have only been on the Turbo for a few weeks now, normally mixing the training between watching a music video or, more recently, the Sufferfest vids. I have done Angels last week and on Tuesday I did Downward Spiral which was damn hard. Last night I tried The Hunted and had huge cramp/pulled calf muscle once I got to the top of the 20 minute climb were you then lower the resistance but increase the cadence. Now normally I am quite a high cadence rider and tried the `climb` pushing a bigger resistance at the requested 80 rpm so it was a tough section. As soon as you get to the top then you re-create the downhill section by spinning around 110 on a lower setting but I got into this about a minute when my leg cramped up. Quite severley too. I was drinking like normal ( High 5 Tab in the bottle cos of the sweat! ). My leg is quite sore this morning, more like a pulled muscle. Never had this before and wondered if anyone else had.
I think it might be because I wasn't used to pushing a big gear for 20 consistent minutes?

If it still hurts this morning then it's more likely a strain/pulled muscle than cramp.
Not likely to be a big deal. Just make sure you do some stretches after exercising and maybe in the mornings too. Also let any damage repair before doing any more on the turbo. If it feels better then just go for a nice easy spin and then take things up again on the next ride. If it doesn't get better in a few days go see a doc.0 -
cramp is usually due to loss of salt when hot or restricted blood vessels due to cold, so if you are drinking enough and you were properly stretched and warmed up then it is more likely muscular due to sudden change of cadence. see how it feels tomorrow after only exercising gently.my isetta is a 300cc bike0

think its a pulled muscle now. I was damn hot and maybe was putting in too much constant effort on the 20min climb section where there is no let up. Still slightly sore today so haven't been on the bike again. Will be trying a flat 70mile ride on Sunday with my mate so hopefully it won't have too much strain on it as we are missing out all the big hills around us for a change!2012 Bianchi Via Nirone Xenon
