Mad Rapper will confirm I suppose, but you misread him. MR is very open to other people's opinions and has many times, including in this thread, mentioned that he likes Hincapie regardless of his doping. This is fine and his reasons are sound. Sometimes also, each of us will have a 'guilty pleasure' for lack of time to explain myself properly. At the end of the day he wasn't being rude, the other poster told him his 'opinion was guff' and MR disagreed but chose not to 'defend' his opinion (it is very well reasoned already, so no additional points are necessary). Etc.
Just enjoy the photos.
Also, I would be wary if EPO man - I wouldn't be surprised if he was a dupe account.
(EDIT: I just looked through his posts and have seen that Mad Rapper has already accused him of this).Contador is the Greatest0 -
With regard Forum Figures.
You have those that have been around since before this forum was changed and post sometimes a lot sometimes a little but who know what they are talking about. I learned a lot about cycling from those posters when I first joined the forum. Length of participation in anything including this is to be respected. Heavyweights. They know they are.
Then you have those from about 07-10 who have been fairly regular posters. They add good value to the forum and most of them know what they are talking about.
Then you have those that don't post a lot but add value to the forum.
Then you have those who have joined due to Wiggins and Sky. I'm not so sure about these.
Then you have the TdF posters who can be annoying at times.
Then you have these new 'twitter generation' posters that have joined or started posting a lot recently, and fire off posts left right and centre, often making mistakes.
Then you have those that are antagnoistic and beat the same drum. I used to interact with these but learned it was useless and didn't provide any benefit or pleasure, so I don't read their posts or just skim them.
Then you have the dupe accounts. These are not to be fell victim to and are often shortlived.
-
That is more or less how I see it anyway; there are others. The forum is pretty diverse and is excellent source of information, advice, opinion and banter. I haven't considered once changing forums.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Then you have those who, if they could, would powder themselves up, get a mirror and a ten pound note, and proceed to snort themselves in an orgy of w@nkery.
I enjoy reading a number of posters here and getting the news and discussion, but a couple of posters have a severely inflated ego about posting on a sports forum...0 -
Some forum members are just lost drunken men who don't know where they are and no longer care. There are also forum members who are lost drunken men who don't know where they are, but do care! And then there are forum members who know where they are and care, but don't drink.0

EPO Delivery Man wrote:You'll find a lot of double standards in this forum, but there are some people on here you simply cant offend as they are Cycling Gods of the Bikeradar Forums and their words are final. When they wake up in the morning and look in the mirror all they see is the face of Bradley Wiggins looking back at them and we are mere mortals who know feck all about cycling even though some of us actually had a Rayleigh Chopper as opposed to them looking at them in bike museums.
If you look at Mad Rappers reply above, you will see hes already put you down and told you your opinion means nothing at the end of the day, thats his way of taking the 'moral highground' and making you feel like an 11-tooth sprocket.
So whatever you do, dont shout, offend, or even pretend you know anything about cycling in front of the following members.

These are the Godfathers, if you go against them you're likely to wake up with your groupset in pieces next to you in bed.

Very good!
I'm not a God Father though, just a grumpy cnut who is wrong more often than I'm right.0 -

Who are these many you speak of? It doesn't look like too many were clean and being denied the chance to earn their money through not doping.
So. Let's say every single rider in the pro-peloton is a doper... there are still riders below that who have been denied their living.
Every doping rider equates one-for-one with a clean rider who didn't make it.
[The only counter argument I'll accept is that the doping years have perhaps (ironically) grown the sport financially and in stature, so we may have to make a small reduction for pro-cycling 'inflation']0 -

Is it possible to be in more than one category at the same time, but in different threads?
Edited to say the above is quite useful information. Ta....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

The problem is that the "many" out there who were denied a living are the ones nobody's heard of, so it's difficult to stand up for them. Yeah George Hincapie is a nice guy, but a nice guy who doped and made a great living out of it. If people had actually heard of all the people who are equally nice, had the natural talent to make it but were denied by the dopers, it would be a different story.0 -

Sorry the Trev comment was meant to be light hearted - probably should have put a smiley after it or something .

Double standards from the high posters in Pro-race ?
Mind you, most of the regulars on here do have their principles and if you don't like them, then they have other principles too. Depends on the rider.I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but I'm intercontinental when I eat French toast...0 -
I don't have any particluar respect for Hincapie's palmares and don't really acknowledge his records for highest amounts of various race finishes, because he was a doper.
However, I admire what he has done in confessing because without him I think LA might still be safe and sound and we probably wouldn't have got the Doprah confession. Didn't he say words to the effect of when I read George's testimony I knew it was over?
Chapeau George and best of luck with the new team (just don't become a Riis!)0 -

George was forced to testify under oath. I doubt he would have said anything just like all the others that were forced under oath. Perjury scare's them [jail time] with so many riders doping at the time the risk was to great.
Armstrong lied under oath, is now outside the statute so he's safe. I have no issue with George getting involved with cycling it would be hypocritical when you look at those still involved in racing and staff appointments.0 -
I don't disagree. George was Teflon and has managed to swerve most of the fall out. I'm really not much of a fan but if he's putting ill-gotten cash back into a team for youngsters then I'll take some comfort from that0

My sartorial mores are hardly beyond reproach, but I'd have to go with fugly on that one. It's utter blandness is, in its own special way, shocking.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0
