I know there is a show us your winter bikes and show us your summer bikes forum so I though I'd make a cyclocross one. I think this forum lacks cross bikes and it I know a lot of people have them! I also need inspiration for a new frame. Post some pics :)

Any chance of a spec list? Also, what's your opinion of the braking performance over cantis (assuming you've previously ridden a more "traditional" 'crosser)?

Ridley X-Fire, Shimano 105 groupset, FSA SL-K Crank 46-36, came with a gossamer crank, BB7 brakes, 4ZA cockpit etc, its my first cross bike so can't comment on the brakes really, mine are just starting to bed in and i haven't done any major braking yet, good not to have my rims destroyed by all the crap getting ground into them tho
  • im going mini v's for next season! easily maintainable, light and good stopping power

Currently using Planet X Dog's Bollox. A big improvement on the 4ZA ones that cam on the bike.

Picked this up off a mate the other day...

It may not look like much, but it was at the right money and it's got good pedigree, including a few u16 national championships!

In that photo, it's got an ultegra 6500 chainset, ultegra 6500 RHS shifter, sora LHS shifter, XTR rear mech and a BBB carbon seatpost.

I'm expecting a delivery of an oversized FSA handlebar, and once that arrives I'll be fitting it, along with the OS115 stem and SLK seatpost I have. I also have a pair of 7800 levers to fit and make it 10 speed so that I can use my other wheelsets with it! I just need a fizik arione cx then and I'll be content!

I'm thinking about running it as a 1x10 setup, just trying to decide on what gearing to go for...

    Watch this space!

When it was clean, not so clean now after 3 weeks riding.

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I do love a croix de fer, such a classy understated looking bike.

How do you find the disc brakes in comparison to traditional cross brakes ?

They're good but can be finicky to set up. What I would say is that they work so much better with apex than tiagra

There is a great shame with Genesis effectively being a Madison product, Shimano only.

It's a bloody great looking bike but can really come alive with SRAM or Campag IMO. And neither of those will ever be stock options.

It's amazing the difference a new saddle can make to the look of a bike...
