hi all,

i have set myself a target of loosing 1.5st, no particular date in mind, but when i reach 13st im going to by myself a new bike (willer gran turismo) and i am doing the moor2sea on august the 7th so it would be nice to go with a new bike.
firstly i have checked my eating habbits, more fruit, raisens, water not beer, 3 coffes instead of 7, no bread, and half portions of food.

physically im quite fit, 73 miles at weekend in 5.5, but this included a puncture and 2 quick food stops.
unfortuantely i work late and wont be home in time to see any light for outdoors biking in the week for a few good months yet, but i do have a set of rollars with three resistances , that i am comfortable riding on.

with a good hard long rode on a sunday, i intend to ride the rollers tuesday and thursday nights, im looking for a sensible use of this time, i have biked on them for 45 minutes at a steady pace but this got a little booring after a while, is interval training the way to go, and can anybody advice on the sort of intervals i should be using.

finally, when and what should i eat after both road and roller training

thanks in advance

is the 73 miles split between the two days or done all at once? you didnt mention what height you are for your weight?

When i use the rollers i put them infront of the tv...put on a good interesting program and cycle away. Really passes the time much much quicker. I do up to around an hour or so. but i would find it impossible to do this without a tv or something. Are you looking to race or just purely burn fat off and social ride?

    Hi rsands

firstly that was done on sunday, left at 7.50 am, back around 1pm, im just over 6ft, and im never going to be a bean pole, im fairly solid, but deffinetely packing most of my extra weight around my gut, and this is the area i want to concentrate on, a appreciate that cycling may not be the best for this, but it one of the few sports i enjoy and can do

You can't lose weight from a specific area.

for weight loss sustained effort that you can do regularly is the key. Not too easy(forget fat burning zone) but not so hard that you're left too pooped or unmotivated to do the next session. If you're doing about an hour on Tues & Thurs you don't need to eat extra at all in my opinion. You will have recovered enough between sessions. Same goes for the longer weekend ride. Take some food & water with you but not stupid amounts! If training leaves you feeling peckish try rescheduling food you would have eaten anyway - e.g. dinner prior to rollers & pudding after etc. Get round the boredom thing with films, music you enjoy , a podcast or perhaps even the Sufferfest videos.

How do you mean?, I didn't (and couldn't) target specific area's, you lose it where you lose it.

Obviously the body stores fat in certain area's, but where it goes from when you lose it is down to the individuals physiology

2 x 20 intervalls - at a level you can do twice a week -just! Gives you good calorie burn adn good fitness returns for longer rides.

Yer not wrong (apart from shameful apostrophe use). Don't tell the new year's resolutioners at your local gym though, they need the motivation to make it to the 3rd week in January.
