The new Team Sky Rapha kit...

Treated myself to a Pro Team long sleeve jersey this week. What arrived today was a Sky Pro Team jersey! It's was promptly repacked and will be sent back tomorrow morning, but I had a good look at it before sticking it back in the bag. It's not the same as the standard Pro Team jersey - it's VERY shiny! It's also incredibly light and I think it's smaller than the Pro Team jersey - so that's pretty much spray on! You won't be able to hide an ounce of lard
It also came in a nice Team Sky plastic bag.0 -

Ben , Rapha charging £150 for a jersey my cat could have designed and all the cold black nonsense can be simply summed up by the imagery above.
You still haven't given us any insight into why it might be nonsense. Do you intend to ? I'm guessing not.
Why do you think it's not possible to produce a coating that reflects IR radiation ?Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

How can we disprove it, other than the common knowledge that "marketing speak" has an agenda to entice customers into spending £120 on cycling jerseys?"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

I didn't ask for it to be disproved, just an insight as to why people think it might be nonsense. So far, all I'm hearing is that this 'Cool Black' is just marketing rubbish, ok, fair enough, but why do you think this ? What makes you think this Cool Black's claims aren't valid ? Why do you not think it possible to coat a fibre with an IR reflective coating ?
As Raffles seems adamant in his repeated claims that Cool Black is nonsense, I can only assume that he either has something to support this, or is in fact a weapons grade mook. I'd like to think that he has at least a modicum of intelligence, but so far he's only managing to suggest otherwise. (Supported by his other threads)Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

You could disprove it fairly easily with two jerseys (black, one with this coating, one without) an IR sensor and the sun.You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
For the lovers and the haters - and the folk that don't frequent Pro Race forum
The haters might want to look away as it pretty much ruins your Made in China sweatshop theory

Everyone knows that shiny lack cars are cooler on a hot sunny day
I know someone who had a pro issue Adidas jersey with the same make believe cool black on it. They said it was the hottest jersey they have ever used in the heat.

Doesn't matter what it's made of in the UK. You'll be freezing your tits off most of the time anyway!0

Love Rapha gear in general (and Assos), but I don't see why grown men would want to wear replica team kit.
(Same goes with all those chavball replica shirts, with the likes of 'Rooney 10' on the back... why?)0 -
I saw wiggo in his at the weekend have to say does look good in the flesh but my god is it tight but then they have the figure for it!0

Just the thing for us urban types, speeding from one high-powered meeting to the next on our fixie. And at £300 it's a steal, I'll have 2 !0 -

Lighten up! Even the most ardent rapha fanboy (and I'm not suggesting you are) would surely think the "lapelled cycling jacket" is a hoot.
I've reconsidered my purchase of this and I'm going to wait for the full black tie ensmble complete with wicking cummerbund and black patent sidis0 -

By 'kit' do you mean just the jersey, which I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with, or do you mean the whole shebang, jersey, shorts, gloves, socks, cap, even bike etc, which I think there is plenty wrong with!?0 -
Yes to both.0
