What a lovely looking bit of kit. I'll probably end up getting one once I am in need again.0

Well done Rapha. A big two fingers up to the price moaners and I think it looks boss ;-)
£150 for a short sleeve jersey  , does it come with a "I am a total mug" certificate ?
Anything to back up your comment ?
I shall be ordering the £75 jersey.
Never liked any sky jersey regardless who makes it but £75 for a genuine team edition is in the ballpark where pricing is concerned, but £150 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft   and I think a serious WTF is entirely justified.
I have the 2012 sky jersey and have been pleased with it. On checking out the Rapha site it appears that this new gear will be made in China? From experience of Specialized bib shorts made in China, then I won't bother with the new sky stuff. The bib shorts were falling apart in one season, I have since moved on to a mix of Giordana and Assos clothing.
The Giordana bib shorts made in Italy have lasted for 3 years and are still like new, the Assos clothing I have is also very good quality but at a higher price, some made in Bulgaria I think and other European countries.
I do find the Italian cycle clothing to be very good quality, hard wearing and a reasonable cost. Experience of the Chinese stuff, it's expensive for crap quality.0 -

So should they have taken their recognised black and blue kit and made it fluro? It's the Team Sky kit they're selling for god's sake!0 -

I'd definitely second this, I have a pair of Giordana 3/4 bibs and the quality, fit and functionality are all superb, wouldn't hesitate to buy again. They don't cost the earth either if you shop around online.
I had, well still have but never use them anymore, a pair of Specialized shorts which are OK for a quick spin down to the shops with, but if you were ever looking to do some serious distance in them things could get a little nasty in the undercarriage.
As for Rapha's Sky kit, I like the little flashes of blue it adds to some of their 'classic pieces' the softshell jacket for instance, but I don't want to buy any of it. I'm sure it will prove a hit for them though, the promotional photos alone are very enticing and make the product look special and distinctive. If I have any Rapha items lined up it will be some summer mits, some new bibs, or a pro team jersey/jacket.
I have my trusty Radioshack-Leopard-Trek jersey as my only piece of team kit, I wouldn't want to own more than one team issue item, especially not from the same team. To me, one piece suggests enthusiasm about the sport and a desire to be as fit and competitive as possible at your level, but I'd just feel like a pretender cycling around decked out in the whole outfit.0 -
Obviously I'll not be buying any of it, but I think it's the best looking kit I've seen yet!
Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred
I have no idea what's going on here.0 -
So, all of the comments alluding to 'it's made in China, so it can't be good quality' or 'its Rapha, so it'll be expensive but the quality won't justify the price'........ How do you know ? Have you tried this range from Rapha ?
Thought not :roll:Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, most other teams only offer a "replica" standard kit, rather than the full blown, as worn by the pros kit, which is what Rapha are offering, and whilst 140 quid is a lot for a jersey, it's by no means the most expensive jersey out there
This Castelli long sleeve wool jersey for example, RRPs at 200 quid

Bloody hell guys, if people want to spend THEIR money on a new bit of kit or shiny bike, let them. If you don't believe the marketing hype, then save your cash! You don't need to slag people off about it.
I personally will wait to see some reviews on the quality of the new range before getting my wallet out.0 -
I like black and riding mostly in Scotland I can barely remember a day where I was actually too warm in just a jersey.
Anyway, looked up that cold black stuff:Sun Reflector
Light colored textiles reflect both visible and invisible rays of sunlight. Meaning that both light and heat are radiated back. In contrast, dark fabrics absorb both types of radiation and therefore absorb heat. coldblack® reduces absorption of heat rays, particularly in darker colors, and in all textiles. The result is tangibly better heat management.
Interesting, and that makes sense - in the way that fluoro colours are treated to behave differently than regular colours.I'm left handed, if that matters.0 -

Of course they are going to say that. They not going to write "our £140 jersey doesn't do anything better than a rival £20 jersey". Its like those pubs having a sign outside saying "good food served here" they're not going to advertise "slightly mediocre bland food served here".
Saying "its just better" doesn't cut the mustard if they can't explain why? Backing it up with hard fact, results, proof.

Ben , Rapha charging £150 for a jersey my cat could have designed and all the cold black nonsense can be simply summed up by the imagery above.2012 Cannondale CAAD 8 1050 -
Regardless of price or quality, design wise I wasn't 100% until Revolution on Saturday night. Peter Kennaugh was wearing it and it looked properly awesome. Much better in person than those dodgy black and white images... might have been the velodrome lights though!2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium
2020 Merida Reacto Disc Ltd - black on black
2015 CAAD8 105 - very green - stripped to turbo bike
2018 Planet X Exocet 2 - grey
The departed:
2017 Cervelo R3 DI2 - sold
Boardman CX Team - sold
Cannondale Synapse - broken
Cube Streamer - stolen
Boardman Road Comp - stolen0 -
Meh, I know the opposite of the Coldblack technology exists, because you can use transparent coatings to IR laser weld two clear plastic sheets together. The theory isn't some kind of black magic marketing bull**** and is pretty believable. I'd rather see the marketing claims being presented in a proper peer reviewed journal with some hard science behind it though.
But all in all, compared to some of the marketing claims you see around sports products, this is nothing. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
Interesting that the Rapha website claims a 9ºC drop in temperature and the Coldback website says 5ºC (or 9ºF).0
