The maddux rims are dreadful aren't they?
Ah, so it's not just me - FWIW, 2010 CAAD8 now with Fulcrum Racing 7s, which a) are lighter and b) haven't fallen apart
Really p155ed off with Cannondale that they didn't even bother responding to my e-mail raising concerns about the Maddux wheels, they broke 2 or 3 spokes in 3 months and at that rate, I could have spent the price of new wheels just fixing them.
Otherwise pleased with bike, wish I'd been more careful with sizes, though :?
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -
Shame Cannondale didnt spend slightly more on the wheels, even if it was just Shimano r500's they really let down a great bike.0
-
If they gave you better wheels the price would go up so it's all relative.Yellow is the new Black.0

Has anyone sold there maddux if so how much did you get. Mines are up the loft gathering dust as spares0

Ah totally agree, my point is that if say the maddux wheels cost say £70, its just a shame they didnt spec something like R500s for twenty squid more, id have rather paid the extra £20 as im sure most other owners would have to have a decent set of starter/training wheels
My plan is to keep them for next winter as i feel a turbo trainer is on the cards0 -
ye good idea, i suppose its always good to have a spare set there anyway going by the state the roads are in.0

Thanks mate, the mount is one of these

I took the carbon bit out and rubbed the laquer and graphics off and got it back to matt carbon finish. Nice solid bit of kit and allows me to mount a light as well if needed
Cheers

Some really nice touches you've made. I have a 2011 Cannondale Synapse 105 that is just Black and White (mostly black), which I really liked at the time of purchase, but now I find it a bit boring, so am trying to introduce a few splashes of Lime Green to liven it up a bit and also to match my jersey and bibs... so this has given me a few ideas.
Have many of your changes made much of a weight decrease?
Cheers!0 -
That looks really good but the stupid top-tube bag just ruins it. If you need a bag, get a nice saddle bag (not a suitcase) instead.
That's one of the only bikes I've seen where coloured tyres actually work - they look really good IMO.
Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred
I have no idea what's going on here.0 -

Did your green flash carbon seat post clamp come with the bike, or did you purchase and fit it afterwards? If purchased after, where did you get it from and is it a straight swap or did you need to modify anything?
Cheers!0 -
What hubs, spokes etc did you go for on the wheels and who built them? Thinking of the same rims myself and they look good on your bike but what about the ride of them?
Agree loose the bag it does look awful!0 -

Hmm no idea on the weight loss, I guess
Crankset -100gm
Groupset change -150gm
Wheels and tyres -500gm
Finishing kit -100gm
So about 850gm lost, no idea what it weighed originally though.0 -

It's from superstar components, only 6 quid posted and it is non loading....I didn't like the original one as I needed to tighten it up too much and was worried about the bolt snapping. Went straight on mate0 -

Haha very little love for my top tube bag, I like it though I can fit a spare tube in it puncture kit money and other bits....sacs having to put them all in my pockets and inevitably forgetting something....I really don't like saddle bags they look pants in my eyes.
The wheels are a archetype rims, 28f 32r alpina black db spokes and bikehubstore hubs. They weigh 1650gms and ride lovely...really stiff and the free hub makes a great noise0 -

Ah OK, so it's not the Cannondale Flash Carbon one then. Looks good though.... I'm guessing thats where the stem spacers and Top Cap came from as well?
Cheers for the info.0 -

Placed my order for seatpost clamp and spacers. Will let you know what I think once fitted.

Ah no probs...I've bought from them a few times always fast post and good quality gear0

Was indeed fast delivery. The parts look great and are very lightweight (felt it anyway).... just gotta get a few other bits and bobs now to compliment them.

declan1 wrote:RubbishCyclist wrote:declan1 wrote:Nice! You should go for Ultegra calipers instead of 105 just for the added power (brakes are one thing I like spending money on)
How do you find the Rubinos? I've heard many people find them deadly for the first 200 miles or so...
Do ultegra brakes perform much better than 105? I thought they were just lighter. But i bow to your knowledge and agree you can never have too much braking power
I read up on the rubinos before i got them and gave them a good scrub with warm water and soap and they have been fine in the few miles I've done on them....miles better than the rubinos they replaced
I've heard from a few people that Ultegra calipers perform better than 105, in addition to being lighter.
Yeah, your finger muscles become stronger when you put Ultegra on your bike! Seriously though, perhaps Ultegra come with better pads - there's no other reason why there would be a difference. They are, after all, just very similar lever mechanisms.Faster than a tent.......0 -
Love to know how you got the mudguards to fit.
I have SKS Chromoplastics and finding there is not enough room under the brake bridge.
Did you need to make and modifications to get them to fit?0
