Is anyone using the British Cycling sportive training plans?

Hello all,

been cycling for 6 years, and fairly regularly in the last few years - joined BC last year, and have decided to give one of their intermediate training plans a go.

I see you need HR and cadence to do it, and luckily I have an aging Forerunner 305 that gives me both of those, so will be carrying out the threshold test on the turbo trainer one evening this week, and planning out the sessions from there.

Just wondered if anyone else was using them, or do you all go your own way, use training books etc etc?

Cheers

Dan

I haven't but my missus has. She abandoned them, as the stipulations for cadence/heart rate just didn't work at all well for her.

There was a happy ending though. She's switched to using Trainer Road with our Kurk Kinetic trainer and that's working extremely well for her.

Yeah, you may as well. As a member they're costing you nothing, and they may well work for you!

One thing to also think about is doing some cross-training like core strength and back/hamstring flexibility work as well. I've started with that recently and it's sorting out a range of problems I've picked up. I'm going to write a full, glowing, forum post about it over the weekend. :)

Yes indeed Mike, has to be worth a go, the worst that can happen is that it's not for me.

I was planning to put a little bit of weights in and running as well for a bit of cross training, and probably some mountain biking as well - the latetr not true cross training, but still different in terms of style of riding.

I have a bit of a buggered up lower back/tight hamstrings, so would be VERY interested to hear what you come up with regarding exercises or what have you that have helped alleviate your situation.

    Cheers
