edited June 2013 in Your mountain bikes
Several months after placing my pre-order (which felt like years!) my Canyon finally turned up on New Year's Eve.

Unfortunately I can't ride at the moment due to a shoulder injury, hopefully I'll be back at it in around a month or so, in the meantime I'll just have to sit and look at it...

Very, very nice. I have the AM from last year's range and it is awesome - you'll enjoy that a lot.

    Looking good :)

I'd switch your Reverb button to be under the LH bar. Attop bars they have a reputation of snapping in crashes

I've had a look at it this morning, I don't see how I can, mine is the lever style which mounts onto the brake mount, because of the positioning of the shifters I don't think it is possible. I'll just have to avoid crashing :P

    That is stunning!

Really doesn't help me at the moment as I am trying to resist buying one until my motorbike sells (which would be quicker if I actually put it up for sale).

    Cracking looking bike Mike!!

Is it 150mm travel front & rear?

Pity you're still crocked as we're off out around Stanage Edge on Saturday morning and (from what I've read, it's my first time there) that would give it a proper test.

Let me know when you're fixed and we'll arrange a ride.

    Yeah 150mm.

My club are doing Jacobs ladder and Ladybower at the weekend too, so many rides I want to go on! GRRRR! :P I'm off to the docs next week, hopefully it won't be too long before I'm riding again. Looking forward to taking her out, I'll let you know when I do.

@ ali4390 - do it, you know you want to!

What club is this you talk of?

I'm often stuck with nobody to ride with, so might be interested if it's open to all.

Did it come with a mount that'll allow you to mount it onto the bars on its own?

I couldn't see one, I'll have another look through the mountain of spare bits and bobs that came in the box.

    Edit -

So I had another look through, there is a spacer which would allow the Reverb remote to be mounted on the bars on its own but as that mount doubles as the brake mount I would be left with no way to attach the brake lever to the bars.

If I can find the circled part on it's own it should be do-able, I've had a quick look around CRC and Evans but have no idea what it's called

I got mine separate so had both options

From what I can remember they could be quite pricy

I just found it, it's an MMX Clamp and is £13 :/

I suppose it's cheaper and less hassle than replacing a broken remote...

Oh that's cheap for a Reverb part. I was thinking about £50, given the extortionate pricing of spares

It's used for the Avid Code brakes too, someone in my club has a spare so it looks like I don't even need to shell out £13 :D

    I got the remote sorted:

I forgot to get the obligatory covered-in-mud pic yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed the first ride out, it was certainly interesting as it was my first time riding in snow/ice too! I can't wait to get out in better conditions and really see what it's capable of (probably more than I am!)

Already looking at changes... first thing on the list is going tubeless.

There's no mud at the moment - just fast, bone-hard, trails!! Mine came back cleaner than when we'd gone out :D

Where did you get out to?

I managed to find some mud, the bike was spotless most of the ride, it was only the last few hundred meters it ended up caked in mud - typical! We were out around the Roman lakes/Mellor, nothing too adventurous but enough to have me grinning from ear to ear on the descents we did.

Great ride today with Proutster! Really happy to get out and ride some stuff which shows what this baby can do :D

Got it properly muddy for the first time although it doesn't look it in the pic, I guess that's why the finish is called 'Stealth'

  • Hi, new to this forum. Seriously thinking of getting this same bike. Looks awesome and spec is unreal for the cash. Just seeing if you've give it a good thrashing yet, how's it handle, etc. any feedback would be great.

I've given it a beasting a few times now, it's a very capable bike. I'm still getting used to the change from a HT to full suss but already my riding is loads more fun. Regarding handling, I can't compare it to another full suss but all I can say it that I have the confidence in the bike the chuck it down/over pretty much anything, I've ridden some things I wouldn't have dreamt of on my HT, it stays nice and straight on the rough stuff and feels really solid.

The only complaint I've seen about this is that the rear shock blows through the travel quite easily, I have noticed it myself too but it doesn't seem to be bottoming out so isn't an issue for me at the moment.

As you say the value is incredible and if I had to buy a replacement bike I would get the same again without hesitation.

I'm taking it up to the Lakes again this weekend and cannot wait! :D:D

Have you tried putting more air in the rear shock?

If its not bottoming out it probably isn't blowing through all its travel.

I mean 150mm is alot of travel and feeling all that moving takes a bit of getting used to.

It doesn't bottom out but it seems to use it all really easily. Even in 120mm mode I've seen the o-ring go right down to the end of the travel. I'll try with more air this weekend and see what difference that makes, I suspect it will reduce the travel though as I'm sure I've tried that before.

With the forks there is an obvious difference between 120mm and 150mm modes, I only use the full travel when going fast on the really rough stuff, with the rear shock I can't really tell a difference between 120 and 150 modes as both seem to use it all (again, could be lack of air).

As Waylander says, it might just be me getting used to it, I'll happily admit I don't have a clue! :)

Thanks for the feedback. All I've heard is good about this bike, think I'm gonna order one over next few days.
