Hi All,
firstly Happy New Year to you - lets hope it's a good one, aye? :D

For a change it is absolutely georgeous here today so going out for a good old ride - clear, little wind and just a little chilly - fantastic.

Anybody else going out this morning/afternoon?

Regards,

Trikeman.

    Absolutely chucking it down here.

    Happy new year!

I have no idea what's going on here.
  • I'll be out later on a "recovery" ride to try and shift the hang over!
  • Morning everyone,

Happy new year! I'm trying to get the courage to go out and ride. I've had a stomach bug for the last couple days which the worst is now gone, but I'm still worried nature will call while I'm out.

4th day struggling to recover from the worst bout of flu I can remember. At least I managed to get dressed today, but that's all my energy used up now! Gutted as looking out at the best weather I've seen in weeks  Also wasn't able to do the Salisbury Plain Winter MTB challenge on Sunday due to feeling so rough.

On the plus side I reckon I've lost 0.5 stone in weight through the fever....

Hope those that do get out today have a great time, I'll be thinking of you all! HNY

I think I've come down with something similar, managed to get up properly yesterday for the first time since Friday and now I'm sitting at my pc sweating in a house with the heating switched off. Frustrating as it does indeed look lovely out there!

Just back from a great 45 miles, blue skies, sun and hardly any wind :D
  • 15 easy miles with a very strong gusty wind was enough to blow the cobwebs away for me.

Just got in from a 57 miler, up from Newbury, through Wantage, Dicot, Streatley, Pangbourne and home. Nasty headwind for the final 10-12 miles that killed me, and reckon i probably should had more breakfast, but had a great ride.

Saw a fair few people out and about too. Some of the scenery out near Wantage is amazing too

Yep, i did a Wantage-Newbury circular. The view from the top of Chain Hill over Wantage was (over-used word, but apt) EPIC!

Hope you all enjoy your rides - very jealous as it still looks a stunning day to be out. Sadly I'm not gonna be out for a week until my leg recovers a bit more after my off a few days ago.

    Happy new year to all!

I got out for a swift 31 miles this morning. Roads were really quite around Leicestershire. Wish I had more time to get a few more miles in but it was good to be out.

Don't think so champ. I was out early doors and didn't see a soul until Newbury.
  • 45 miles for me too. Extended a previous 40 miler out a bit, was hoping it would end up over 50 but no such luck :)

Turned into a horrendous 15 mile run with a headwind at every turn. What could be a fantastic route come spring/summer was nothing but suffering today.

25 miles in East Yorks. Windy. A few other riders out. Hard work after best part of a month off the bike tucking into many mince pies. Reckon I deserve a couple more now.

Commuted to work this morning, it was awesome. Not a car in sight! Almost as quiet on the return journey too.

Thursday is looking good, so I have a 20miler planned, I have neglected my distances lately with all this crappy weather.

Bah, I'm green with envy at all of you who got out today...

Suffering with a chesty cough/cold/manflu thing at the moment which has left me with the energy of a three toed sloth and coughing up strange substances that look like something out of an Alien movie. Managed a brief stroll with the other half today, but must have seen about a dozen knights of the road out on their steeds, adding to my illness influenced misery.

Would have been lovely too, not too cold, bright and sunny, and roads pretty dry even after the soaking yesterday. Good going to all of you who got out today.
  • HNY all, a beautiful morning in Kent, although road conditions were horrible from all the rain yesterday. just a brief 14 mile loop this morning to shake the hangover, and get back before it was noticed from her indoors.

I went out this morning to do 20-30 miles. But after 5 miles came off really heavy on a roundabout - really oily on the roundabout and landed hard. RHS badly road rashed - holes in all my clothing, but bike damaged - hood all bent. Tried to continue but felt sore and not really enjoying it. So turned round and went home.

Bike will go to shop tomorrow for fix. Bound to be costly. Wife has just sown jacket together, bibs will become old ones now.

Gutted - I'll heal, but bike and clothes are a different matter. I had just fitted crud roadracers yesterday and was keen to see how they fared. They were ok after off!

I got out and did 42 miles on what felt like closed roads at times, very quiet. Happy new year all..
