    is it worth joining?

According to the British Cycling web site (http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership) the benefits include:
Up to £10m liability insurance Free legal advice & support for cycling incidents 12% off at the British Cycling Wiggle Shop 10% off at Halfords, including the Boardman range Weekly email newsletters Priority access to events and discounted tickets 40% off CNP nutritional products

I'd say that's pretty good value for £12. The first two alone are easily worth it but you can judge for yourself.

Does anyone know if Halfords will price match AND offer 10% for BC membership or is it one or the other?

Just applied for membership, via the TopCashback (rather than quidco) site which gives a straight £10 cashback,

My TopCashback is only saying £5.05? :(

    TforL12

Awesome! Was toying around with the idea a while ago and should have done it then!

Initial payment of 12 and hopefully Qudco will give me £5 cashback! Awesome deal, thanks to OP!

I wonder if the take up was quite high, it was £10 a couple of days ago. Still, £5 is better than nothing :)

I joined just last week, again on the motivation of this thread, been meaning to do so for a while and didnt get round to it. saved about £2 on a small order at Wiggle which has again helped to make the membership nearly free!

Would certainly not want to be in the situation that I need to use the insurance or legal help but it is good to know that it is there now.

Clearly no-one would but if the worst came to the worst, it could be very bad indeed. A moment's wobble reaching for a bidon, veer into the path of a car that swerves to avoid you and runs over a 25 year old merchant banker with 5 children and paralyses him/her. That could result in a payout of literally millions of pounds so it's reassuring to know you would be covered.

The legal cover would also be useful if someone hits you. Hiring lawyers is not cheap and if you lost your case, it could turn out to be very expensive.

All in all, £24 seems excellent value so any discount is a bonus. In addition, as astrazen pointed out above, the more members BC has, the more clout it has representing the interests of cyclists.

My one arrived last week. Only strange part is the membership card instructions mentions adding a photo but no where for the photo to fit. I just assumed it was a mistake from some of the race memberships that I understand do have a photo on them.........

Just checked my bank and minus -£12 British Cycling?

Need to check bank statement, so not sure what's going on there

  • Am I missing something, it seems to be £28 to join now?

TFL13 does work to get the price to £23.33, but that isn't as attractive as the £18 advertised on the tfl website.
