Garmin GSC-10 Speed & Cadence sensor - breakage avoidance

Pointing out the obvious here but don't position the wheel speed sensor as it is shown in the above picture, or you risk catching it and snapping it off when you remove / replace your wheel. Simply unscrew, rotate clockwise until it's resting against the chainstay, and re-tighten. Much less likely to get broken.

On quite alot of chainstays there isn't enough space to the wheel to rotate the arm down and it needs to be up the way.0

Should be mounted like this:

For speed you do not need the sensor GPS will do it for you0

Even if not using TrainerRoad, speed can be useful on the turbo, to help you stick to a certain level of effort. GPS doesn't work for that.CAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0

Fitted my GSC10 to new bike today and had to have it same as first pic, there is zero clearance on my rear stays, not ideal but had no other choice. Think I will be looking for an alternative soon.0 -
Whilst we're on Garmin problems, has anyone else had an issue with their HRM whilst on the turbo. During my sessions as my heart rate approaches 90%+ it wipes out completely and then comes back on reading something like 1/3 actual heart rate. This is very annoying when i am trying to use HRM zones to train. Tried wetting the pads on the belt, washing the belt between rides but no good. This does not happen on the road !!!
Any ideas? :roll:0 -
After much reading online it may be cause by static from clothing???
I have been putting kitchen foil between the metal connections and so far it seems to be working well. Bit of a crap fix but it works for me.
Also dont machine wash the strap or dry it on top of a radiator.
Good luck.0 -
Make sure your strap is tight enough .. it makes a difference.
Also, do you have moobs? :PAll the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

It is most likely to be a static electricity problem.
Get something to earth yourself, perhaps an old brake cable attached to a nearby radiator pipe.CAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0 -
