Just bought a set of rollers.
I was wondering if you need to use a trainer tyre as per a turbo?
Thanks Pete

It depends...
- on whether your rollers are plastic or aluminium and if they have resistance
- on what tyres you currently have fitted and how robust/delicate they are
- on how heavy you are
- on what type of training your are planning to do on your rollers
You might get away without needing them and then again you might find your tyres over-heating, wearing excessively, popping off the rims, bulging/blistering at the sidewalls. As I said, it depends...I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.0 -
I use normal road tyres on plastic rollers and they seem to cope0

there is far less wear caused to the tyre on rollers than with a turbo... I'd not be surprised if it was less than on the roadCAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0 -
Thanks everyone for your input on this. Just hope I can stay on them

NEVER LOOK DOWN!!!
I've just got some rollers and I read that you should look ahead and not down, I'm fine with looking down but when I look forward I start stressing that I might be drifting to the edge of the rollers, so go back to looking down. LOL0 -

Perhaps you should ride in front of a mirror?0 -
