The group I'm working with this week have been fantastic; good students, but not robots. A nice bit of banter and lots of laughs during the sessions. We've actually finished the course early because they're so good and that means today's session will be just a fun ride to a park a few miles away to show them the world that cycling opens up.

I only have a half hour commute this week but this morning I left early and took a pootle along the River Lea and across Walthamstow Marshes.
I've spent all day outside with a group of well behaved, reasonably skillful cyclists.
The worst part of it is moving around to make sure that the kids are in shade when possible.

When I finished work my colleague and I went for a couple of drinks in a nice pub near the River Lea.

    I love my job.

Glad you aren't doing that were I am, Sun is vertically above, temperature in the very high 30's and humidity pushing 95%.....I keep fearing turning into just a grease spot. I'm also not sure how you would view my cycling in traffic technique, but then I'm sure you teach adapting to your surroundings?

Wow! I didn't know Leamington Spa was that different!!

Technique-wise: stay visible (by positioning, not necessarily though day-glo clothing, make eye contact with other road users, take primary when necessary.

Should have made it clear that I am in India at the moment! The safest way to travel in the city on a bike is by being fast and maintaining momentum, that way I am as fast as (or faster than) the hordes of bikes and scooters and auto Rickshaws (Tuk-Tuks) and can travel in their (near continuous) 'peloton', making eye contact with them all would involve some serious neck injuries, day-glo clothing too damn hot....as for Primary, their is no concept of that here regardless of your mode of transport, you also need to watch out for vehicles squeezing back up the wrong side or overtaking across the central white line because they figure the traffic coming the other way has enough room without that bit they are using. Normality will return in Leamington tomorrow!

There's not much of him, you could probably have both fitted through at the same time.

I've been booked to work at the Olympic Park for the TdF. I assume Team Sky have requested me specifically to train their riders.

On another note, this is my busy period and I'm working flat out (19 days on the trot booked so far). This means my boxer shorts are now getting too tight to go over my 24" thighs. Hoy? Fostermann? Move over, EKE is coming!
