I want to start using Golden cheetah I have tried to upload some files from powertap program but I`m getting a parsing error on row 0.It seems to upload the ride but there is no ride data what so ever.
I was hoping to upload all this years rides and see where I am at.
I`m pretty basic with computers so this is some what of a challenge for me.
Thanks

Are you uploading a tcx file? or some other format?
I don't have an issue when importing rides into GC v2 or v3.0 -
I upload mine from my garmin head unit.I have had a similar problem in the past. If you don't have a date associated with the file (i.e. it's recorded without a GPS time tag) it won't upload. At the first upload option (50%) there's an option to select a date. Pick a date and it will upload.
Does this make sense?0 -
JGSI I`m guessing GC V2 V3 is garmin connect? I don`t use garmin.
GiantMike I have selected the date the ride has uploaded but there seems to be no data shown on Golden Cheetah
I`m going to have another play with it and see if I can stumble on how to work it.
Damn shame I can`t get my head round this.
Thanks for advice chaps0 -
I meant to expand GC - Golden Cheetah both versions ..
Hope you get a result, it's good to use.0 -

Did you fix this?0

I give up mike I'm just going to upload each current ride I do from PT cervo unit and start a fresh with it from here on0
-
Could you upload any of these problematic tcx files to a file sharing site like box.com and then could have a play importing into Golden Cheetah.. only a thought0
-
If you want you could send one to me and I'll try to upload it to my GC to see if it works or not. I'll pm you my email address if you want to try.0

Hi,
How are you importing the data, via download or importing a file ?
Regards,
Mark--
Obsessed is just a word elephants use to describe the dedicated. http://markliversedge.blogspot.com0 -
Mike thanks for the offer but at the moment I haven`t looked at how to email files from power agent like I previously mentioned I`m not that good with computers.
Mark I think I`m importing a file.0 -
I`ve cracked it I`m downloading rides from TR and then uploading to GC.
Now it`s a case of learning how to use GC.0 -
Well done!0

I cant get anything up on the Performance manager page. Can anyone help?
I click the PM button the page comes up I then set the dates from my first ride in july to present date and still no data?0 -
Blooming eck I`m useless Ive cracked it again
It`s the blackline accross the bottom of the page It`s constantly straight along the -0.6 line.
What does that mean?0 -
Are you using v2 or v3?
If v3, I'd be in same boat, I cannot even get Performance Manager to show up.
So using v2 still.
anyways have you set up your rider profile?
Tools Options Athlete .. Power zones HR zones etc
then cross your fingers0 -
Thanks I shall try and sort it now0
-
Sorted it and here is the graph.
Can you help me with how to understand it JGSI thanks

Glad it's working!
As to intepretation .. well not so qualified I'm afraid.. but after reading around the subject of PMCs
those gaps inbetween the red lines.. means no ride data.. someone previously mentioned on here that shows up a lack of consistent training/work ! so you know what that means?
Ride more.
When the green line intersects the blue line that results in you being neither fatigued nor fresh in subjective terms.
Can you plot any good results on that timeline and do they coincide with certain ..?
eg a 5sec sprint of high wattage?
a 60min power record?
a good timetrial or race result?
ANyways, as mentioned I am still at novice level myself
Look around the TP site http://support.trainingpeaks.com/person ... chart.aspx
Different colours (acronyms)- same principles though!0 -
Thanks again0

There's a Golden Cheetah User's Guide here.
You'll find that direct support for GC is a bit less than, for example Training Peaks. but it is effectively the same product just a bit stripped-down in comparison. I wouldn't get too worried about the specifics of the Performance Manager chart, I think they are all a wildish estimate. The best detail is in the Ride tab where you see what you have achieved and the Time-based summaries. For example, monitoring your 20 min power over a period of months, if you're regularly testing it.
Make sure you complete the summary tab after each workout to give some meaning to the data. If you feel tired or fresh etc then I'd record that because it helps tell a story for later analysis. If I can't complete a workout as planned I say why.0 -
Thanks Mike great info I`m reading and learning!!0
