Looking good, will be interested to see how you get on with the forks and the hans dampfs on the crests, looking at a similar setup for mine.0

Totally been a tart I wanted a black fork not a white! I could have waited until January for the limited edition black float but I wanted them now! I always have the Talas cartridge to convert them back as well so all is good.0 -

Thanks dude. The hans are huge tyres, blow up massive and the clearance is not as big as I thought. Its nice though been able to change them round and get another load of miles from them.0 -
How was the first ride? Always loved the look of the Ibis frames.0

Thanks. The ride went very well, I throughly enjoyed every minute of it. The 40/28 at the front is going to take some getting used to, I am definitely going to have to build my strength back up to the level I was at when I had my Santa Cruz and the aim is to go beyond that. One slight problem is it seems the Fox front fork is still running at 160mm despite the float cartridge been labeled up as a 34 Float 150mm cartridge. Going to have to call up Mojo in the morning to check on it. The measurement's I have taken off them indicate its still 160mm.0 -

Ye Fox sell a replacement shuttle bumper that takes them down to 150mm. Also some OEM 34's are supplied in 150mm travel guise.0 -
Climbs miles better now that I have dropped the pressure in the fork which in turn has lowered the front slightly. Really really pleased with it, I am going to drop a bit of air from the tyres and continue fettling with the rear shock and fork settings to get the best out of them.

Been a total pussy I have decided to swap to a triple chainset. If I could have fitted a 26/39 chainset on it I would run that but according to the Ibis website it's not compatible. The 28 ring is a little much for me at my current level of fitness but it should be making a appearance again in the future when I get fitter again.0
-
Really? I'm running 22/36 on my SL, might not be recommended but I'd be suprised if 26/39 won't work on the HD0
-
Yep, I cannot find the definite reason but I believe it's to do with Shimano using the 3x10 chainset on the 2x10 trail and this causes a problem with the 2x10 mech interfering with the lower link. Again I cannot find it in writing but here is the compatibility chart:

Maybe it's the direct mountness; mine is 35mm OD and while my set up isn't listed it works fine.0
-
You can run the triple mech and just set the limit screws so it doesn't go past the middle chainring. I did the same an it worked well, the chain dropped a few times but with a xtr plus mech you should be fine0

Got to say I do like Mojo's.Trek Remedy 7

Well it would seem good old Royal Mail might have misplaced my direct mount mech hangars that I bought from Ibis. Its been showing as "Undefined" for days now.0

Nice build! Only thing I'd question on it is those stans crest rims, I'm a very light rider but I'd worry at the back of my mind if they will be ok on some downhills. I just opted for stans arch ex as they seem like a great compromise between strength and weight which are on my 130mm trail bike now and love them! When in doubt go flat out! My steeds below:

Nowt wrong with Crests, they can take a lot of abuse quite surprisingly really.0 -

If Stans had made the Arch EX wider than a Crest but narrower than a Flow I would have gone for them. As it stands to my mind they are the same width and I guess a little less flexy? I would rather have some more girth say a 22.5-24.5 rim bead width to reduce tyre roll.
I nicked the wheels off the Anthem X1 and I am looking to change them but I am waiting to see where Carbon rim's go. At the minute they (Enve) are a similar weight to a Crest (off the top of my head) and I think £900 or whatever per rim would be far better spent in other areas.0 -
Have you looked at superstar's carbon wheelset offerings? I have to say I'm mighty tempted, but would have prefer a straight pull hub (for looks more than anything else!).0

Straight pull means spokes that 9 times out of 10 the general bike shop wont have spokes so that rules them out.
Until Carbon rims are a nice amount cheaper and stronger than alloy I will stick to alloy.0
