The BMW. Not only does it have that weird y-bike thing going on, it also hasn't got the suspension right.

There doesn't look like there is a steerer (at least not one that looks like it's attached to the top of the downtube of the frame). Weird

See this website: the design doesn't seem any better once you learn more about it!

    Yeah, it's pretty dang fugly.

There is no steerer as we have on current bikes. The top and bottom crowns are joined by rose-joints (ball joints) to the main frame.
The fork legs are telescopic, at the section in black.
As the forks compress, the head angle changes, and the crowns rotate on the ball joints.

Of course, the funny thing about it, is that even top level race teams, who would certainly have the money to licence the patent from BMW (if they do hold a patent on it), don't bother to use it.
Which tells us something pretty damned important about it I'd say.

I'd be surprised if they didn't have ABS. Quite a few "sports tourers" have ABS, in some form.
Does BMW race in World Superbikes now? (I follow MotoGP, but not WSBK) Does their race bike have this bizarre linkage?

Well that means either it's sh*t, and has no benefits, or that they're in the same situation as me...
They're SOOOO good, that they've been told not to race, in case they embarrass the other competitors.

I doubt they are quite as deluded as you, so I would say sh1t. Which co-incidently, is just like you.

Of course I am dear. There there you'll feel better soon.
The last worldbeatingly weird suspension design I remember was this POS they made poor old Ron Haslam ride.

I just made the mistake of looking that up on Google images. I wish I hadn't
I did the same; which end is the front.

I quite fancied one for the technology but couldn't afford it and got a Mount Vision instead. Still have it but it has seen better days.

Watched a Whyte go on eBay recently for a whole £320.

The downside to Telelever/Duolever front ends is reduced feel at the bars/lever when cornering/braking. 'Brought up' on telescopic forks you develop the feel for grip and adjust to the change in wheelbase (shortening on braking, lengthening on acceleration) unconsciously. Since the limits of adhesion are constantly found, passed and (hopefully) saved when on the track, racers don't get on with these front ends. BMW replaced the GSs front end for tele forks for Paris-Dakar years ago, then kept that look when they brought out the HP2. They used teles on the S1000RR sportsbike, as much for marketing and selling to a wider (sceptical) audience, as for any race benefit.

      Ooh, now that's ugly!

You remember transformers toys- how they always looked either good as a robot but crap as a jet or car or whatever, or otherwise could be a really good gun but a crap robot? Well, apparently the Tesi transforms into a really cool looking robot.
