Well at least she admits the source of her swivel-eyed views in the first sentence.

But, generally, it is never the cyclist’s fault is it? There are plenty out there who don’t even bother to wear helmets. Indeed Boris’s eponymous bikes that tourists can rent in London don’t even come with them.

Is the mad bint suggesting not wearing a helmet actually causes accidents??

I really struggle with these articles.. On one hand there are ninja cyclists out there and those who don't abide by the rules. However you get this with every walk of life. It is always the minority that get targeted.

There is also a blatent right to be abusive, maime or worse to a cyclist just due to the fact they are on two wheels.
Does this woman have a conscience, how would they feel seriously injuring someone.

    Not impressed.

PERHAPS it is because my late mother had an affair with a cyclist that I have never had much time for them.

Should have stopped reading after that. Hard to take seriously an article written by someone who declares an irrational bias against a mode of transport in the first sentence.

Reading Ms Tominey's screed, I'm reminded of this riposte: "what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

    +1

My main issue is that its plain offensive, suggesting that people who have been killed whilst cycling are to blame because they didn't have lights. Any evidence for this? At all? No, thought not.

Also depresses me that we still have people writing opinion pieces who appear to have no qualifications at all other than a posh sounding name. Its like something out of Downton Abbey, except this is the 21st century for f**k's sake.

Also, the little intro about her mother's affair. That is 100% bulls**t presumably. Its just an insult to the reader's intelligence on so many levels.

PERHAPS it is because my late mother had an affair with a cyclist that I have never had much time for them. I would walk home from school to frequently find his bike propped up against the front gate.

I seem to recall that she did a rather scathing article a while ago on Milkmen and before that she had a right pop at Postmen too.

Poor dear obviously has unresolved issues.

  • She's an idiot who can't explain or defend her views, she's basically slagging off dead people and saying it's their fault they're dead.

  • She's really not very intelligent, someone on Twitter said her rant can be shown up as the prejudiced nonsense it is if you remove the word "cyclist" and replace it with the word "jew".

    Camilla's response?

    "Don't be stupid, I don't hate jews!"

It's a big fail that article. Lumping everyone in to a single category and point of view is useless and doesn't provide a balanced debate.

I read these comments, but haven't read the article due to my brain running the following routine:

    IF [authorname] = "Camilla"
REM or some other aristocratic inbred name
    AND [papername] = "Express"
    REM or mail or telegraph
    THEN IGNORE

Stupid woman - Wiggo was not reliving his victorys, he was on a MTB going to meet some friends! She loves cycling - in the gym! Has anyone used an excercise "bike" in a gym? Waste of time and effort, it's nothing like riding a real bike.

Surely this is simply an attention grabbing publicity piece? Surely she can't really be that stupid and bigotted?! It just doesn't seem a serious piece...

That is by far the funniest thing I've read in ages. Right down to the mum diggling a cyclist bit.

    Superb.

If only I could be ar$$ed with twitter........
Or could be bothered wasting my time.

Edit:- Does that count as a knock back? I hope so.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.
