Talking of Big Girls!

Just spent 2 weeks back in the UK - first time for 7 years and absolutely gobsmacked at the state/size of British women.
When I was growing up in the 70's the norm was to see a slimmish girl with a boyfriend/husband with a huge pot belly.
Fast forward 35 years and the guys in general seem to have got their act together but OMG the women seem to have completely gone the other way.
Did I miss something - just when exactly did size 16/18 become acceptable ?
The amazing thing is these women actually think they are sexy, even young girls 18-20 are big and they go out in groups and drink/act like men - well they did fight for equality so I suppose that makes it alright !!
I just thank God I am not a young man these days looking to find a partner.
Anyway that's my rant and I expect to get flamed but that sadly was my lasting impression of the last 2 weeks.

In reply to the OP. I think you are being sexist as when I look around the men are every bit as bad.

When I was a teenager the number of fat people in my town could ne counted on one hand, you'd need more fingers than a village full of idiots now.

But, forgive me if I don't open up the debate into the causes of the fat/obese generation problem, it's been done soooooo many times on here before.

A bazillion shows/ads/topics on clothing to hide your fat
A bazillion shows/ads/topics on "you're great just the way you are"
A bazillion shows/ads/topics on MAKEOVERS!!!!

Objectively, we are tending towards the clinical definitions of obese... and for many, myself included, it can be a thorny topic as it might make you face reality. True, there are a handfull of folks who suffer from a handfull of medical/genetic predispositions, but the idea of "I'm just big bone'd" is passe. Over the past year and a half, I shed about 120 pounds... about 140 from my heaviest. I ate... I did little else... I got fat.

Today, it's become politically incorrect to criticize... you get called a bully! But sometimes, you're just fat... PERIOD.

I'm a on/off fatty my weight fluctuates from healthy to bordering on obese, it's a problem i have and it's all in my head. I know what I should eat but my will power is easily defeated by an urge to eat crap. I'm obviously not the only one that thinks like this but it's really hard to keep my weight under control.

Ultimately, fatties need to want to do something about it, thats all there is to it.
