Hi all,

Looking for a training book, I have used Joe Friels bible for the last year and have read a few times (in forums  ) lately about some of his methods being outdated now so was curious to read a new book if anyone can recommend anything that maybe has more up to date methods of training for racing.

Thanks :)

Training and racing with a power meter by Allen & Coggan? Or Chris Carmicheal's Time Crunched Cyclist?

Thanks for the reply, I don't have a power meter and with regards to the Carmicheal book I do have the time availible to train more then 10 hours a week so maybe I should stop reading internet forums that start the creaping doubts! Unless anyone else knows of any recent books?

In terms of more recent approaches the Tim Kerrigan (Team Sky) plan has been reverse periodisation. This has been used in swimming for years and aims to have you at almost at peak for long periods rather than building to a peak (or two peaks) in a season. Search on that. I found this with a search there :

I'll be doing a traditional periodisation plan this year with focus on endurance and strength training over the winter that hopefully will reap rewards and not have me burned out a spent with the racing by June like this year!
