Being able to turn the heating off and wear shorts in February.

Having absolutely perfect weather and decent form at the same time meaning I knocked 15 seconds off my 5k PB this morning having been stuck with my previous one for 3 years.

Similar -- the mild winter has enabled me to cycle right through ( to date -- hope I don't jinx myself and everyone else now ) giving me a great head start on fitness for this years planned adventures and events.

Yep, I do intervals of varying lengths and/or hill reps every week. Biggest issue I've had is that I was getting shin and calf problems everytime I was starting to build my mileage plus I've run 4 marathons in the last 2 years so have concentrated on long stuff rather than speed. Changed shoes about 6 months ago and my injury problems seem to be behind me. Training for another marathon but the mileage and some Speedwork are paying off. Aiming for a HM PB next week now.

Being self employed working direct for clients and not having to clock in / out, start early, leave late and all that cr4p as being discussed at length on the Trivial Annoying thread. You do the time, you bill the client, client pays, simples.

As long as the clients pay on time and you don't have to spend unbilled time chasing and as long as the business is small enough that you aren't spending hours of unpaid work on the admin side of things.

I'm able to spend my entire home life in shorts and t shirt as it's warm due to sunlight coming through the rear windows or the natural blonde and little lady have the thermostat walloped right up

Over the years I've had a couple of clients who've defaulted on payments. They did not stay as clients very long.

Exactly -- been there got the t shirt -- nowadays I feel like I'm getting money for doing what I love doing with none of the admin or headache when people decide your not getting paid.

The woman in front of me going into the station just now who was so engrossed in her phone conversation that she walked to one ticket barrier and put her ticket in the slot for the barrier next to her, nearly walked into the barrier as it obviously didn't open and then stood there bemused trying to work out what had happened.

Not only silly but bad for you. My knees are now bu66ered through years of running. Cycling has less impact on the joints.

  • The other day, walking to work I saw a pigeon getting wired into the diced ham bits of a pizza that someone had evidently barfed the previous night. That made me chuckle. Almost good enough to take a quick photo of, had I not been concerned about looking like a total weirdo to other city centre commuters.

I suspect that everybody would have been right. You for being concerned about it and all the commuters for thinking it.
