On the above meal one of my mates ordered escalope just like you thinking he was getting sea food. Partly because he had false teeth and couldn’t chew meat very well.😂

Had my first and only steak tartare in Paris back in the 90s and a few hours later ended up with a galloping case of the sh1ts.

Love a steak tartare, my French food faux pas was with andouillette. It definitely wasn't the frogs legs I had hoped it would be! Still tasty though and I have ordered on occasion since in full knowledge of what I'm getting, much to my daughter's disgust.

And I'll raise you: we give raw chicken wings to our dogs, effectively chicken tartare with a spot of added chewing.

I really like steak tartare and rarely pass up the opportunity when it's on the menu.
Andouillette I am less convinced by, I ordered them on holiday last year and the waitress was at great pains to check that I understood what they were (i was vaguely aware that it was a kind of offal based sausage). They were tasty but had the consistency of chopped inner tubes, I won't be rushing back for more.

What you need to do is cook it in blood and disguise the taste with a ton of salt and pepper.

It's more of a squelch as the uncooked bones are like cartilage. The hounds love it. Also good fun doing it if we have vegetarian visitors.

Fwiw, as a cat owner I can confirm mice and vole tartare is also crunchy.

I still remember my best dog's love of 'rabbit-head tartare' (still warm)... it kind of went side to side getting increasingly pulverised until it could be swallowed without discomfort. Fur, eyes, ears and all.

I think possibly the post-exercise burrito are the best moments of the week. Pretty much unbeatable. 10/10. Would do it every day if I could.

My big Tabby loves a bit of pigeon or dove. Found several feet and wing combos left over this summer. He even joined us for dinner one evening when we were eating out in the garden, jumping the fence, dove in mouth.

Funny you should mention that but ours got another pigeon today and was trying to eat the guts that were hanging out.

Ours used to prefer properly aged and seasoned critter. Had a habit of catching possum or rabbit, then quickly burying it once dead. She’d then dig it up again a couple weeks later to munch on.

Haha, after my moaning about the H&S video training, the Safeguarding one was just text slides, done in about 15 minutes, including the test. As I've done it every year for about 15 years, it wasn't overly exciting with huge revelations.
FWIW, the most important parts of the training is having it reinforced that "It does happen here", and that you must record and report any concerns, no matter how trivial they seem to you. Most of the other stuff is either common sense or can be checked from the relevant documents if you're not sure.
Anyway, it's cheered me up that I'm now up to date with all the online training & declarations, thanks to télétravail... at least, until I receive the next notification...

The most dangerous chemicals for brass players are the valve oil ("Can be fatal if ingested") and the dribble of trumpet players. Full PPE is indicated.

Making the most of my last three nights here... last of the local wines for a while, this one about £3.80, and very nice with a bolognese dish. Earned it, as I was a good boy and did my INSET training by video link, and then a 55-mile ride onto the Vercors plateau.

Over the weekend, i Picked up a computer game I wouldn't normally shell out on but it was 90% reduced so I bought it for £6.50 over the weekend.
It's not gonna be the greatest game I play but there is something about that period relatively early on in the game where you've just about picked up the game mechanics and controls but there is so much opportunity about how the game and your playing style is going to unfold. Glorious.

I bought a telly at the weekend, old style. Walked into a shop, saw a display model on sale with a big discount for no remote* and a tiny scratch, walked out with it.
(*We have two spare remotes already, from the two tellies the cat has prevented from functioning, with the contents of her bladder. That's for another thread, and she's not done that since we moved, which is nice.)
