Deserve to succeed? Why?shortfall said:So, GB News technical issues have continued which is pretty irritating and unforgivable. The poor sound synching in particular spoils the affected sections. The (dogs) breakfast show is a bit of a shambles and the set is too dark and the format is just wrong. The evening shows are much much better. Dan Wooton is excellent (an opinion which won't be widely shared by my fellow cake stoppers - and possible also the wives who are treated to snippets of my contributions here). Michelle Dewberry was pretty watchable and the Andrew Neil hour was bang on form despite wHaT WiKiPeDIa says about him. If they get the tech stuff sorted and rework the morning shows they deserve to succeed.

Serious question - are they trying to be anything that LBC isn't already?0
-
Because there is a gap in the market for what they're offering and they've been bold in trying to do something different. They've put together a good team with a blend of seasoned and experienced presenters from the mainstream and some fresh faces. Can we at least agree that the initial signs are encouraging that it's not the Fox News UK that the scaremongers would have it?elbowloh said:

The market will determine whether there is a gap in the market i suppose. I can't say i agree about the initial signs, as I've not watched any!shortfall said:

Just not watched much tv (not any TV news, let alone GB) recently apart from Cbeebies, football and box sets at 2am in the morning when I'm doing the night feed.

Pah, those radical left Cbeebies. We need a Fox News version of them.0 -

you may jest but I always used to be amazed at the diversified cast of thousands on Cbeebies whereas C5 had a girl reading out birthday cards before introducing the next show.briantrumpet said:elbowloh said:Just not watched much tv (not any TV news, let alone GB) recently apart from Cbeebies, football and box sets at 2am in the morning when I'm doing the night feed.

If it was not for you lot I would not have known GB News had launched, how did you all find out about it? who can access it?0

You can see it at gbnews.uk - worth a look for the novelty value and slightly desperate air of needing to be "different". Think it's on freeview and all the rest too. I only realised because the launch got reviewed by proper news sources.surrey_commuter said:If it was not for you lot I would not have known GB News had launched, how did you all find out about it? who can access it?

The first I heard about it GBNews was on here. My favourite news is none, because 9 times out of 10 it's all a load of sensational fear stories which have no real direct impact on my life. That keeps me cheery.
I followed the news more intently at the start of Covid, but then it was just a case of repetition and stating the obvious. The best information I found was a youtube clip I posted in the relevant thread. It's of a specialist South Korean virologist who had to deal with Sars/Mers, consequently being ahead of the curve.

It came up on here a while ago - think there was a bit of a right on twitter storm that a right-leaning news channel was launching.surrey_commuter said:If it was not for you lot I would not have known GB News had launched, how did you all find out about it? who can access it?

I'm still struggling with a news channel that is openly admitting to be partial in its reporting. I appreciate there's an element of it with all news outlets but would rather just be told what is going on rather than have any news outlet trying to put a bit of a slant on it to reflect their political leanings. I suspect when most people complain about biased reporting it is more that the reporting doesn't reflect their own world view. Also, whilst I don't watch Sky News I'd be surprised if it isn't slightly right leaning if anything so this narrative of the 'MSM' being controlled by left leaning metro liberals doesn't seem grounded in reality.0

What was fun, if disappointing, was a really good race on my ride last night.
Guy caught and passed me on a little motorway bridge and I wasn't quite good enough to get the wheel. Legs looked ripped.
Chased him and kept him at 50-100m or so for the next 15-20 minutes (maybe less - it felt that long...!) Absolutely gassed myself chasing. Could not get any closer however I tried. Eventually he disappeared in a bendy bit out of sight and my head dropped and I lost him.0 -
It would appear that GB news has already lost one it’s sponsors Koppenberg cider or something. They are not happy with the content of what’s being broadcast according to the BBC.
This could clearly be fake news though.0 -
They did pull out. They were never a 'sponsor' so weren't deliberately trying to be on the channel but their adverts did appear. I imagine their agent did it as presumably it's a target demographic.

Well Andrew Neil used last night's hour long segment to support the government extending the restrictions for another 4 weeks, which is in bang line with received wisdom in cakestop. Not very gammon of him is it?0

The snag is it's missed opportunity because as you said they have hit the floor looking amateurish, people will just tune out and viewing figures will go South. I'm surprised Andrew Neil didn't have a better grasp on the situation.Stevo_666 said:
