I have a Battaglin RS1 that's set-up as a fixed gear road rocket. Roche rode a Battaglin to victory in the 1986 Tour.

The true one-of brands are where the name on the frame is the name of the guy who built it rather than just sticking their name on a product made in China.

I bought a C12 this year and I also live in the flat lands so maybe Markos has point about us being unusual. I don't have webbed feet or six fingers before anyone asks!

I saw a moots a few months ago, first time ever in the flesh.

I have a Storck which is my good summer bike and you dont see many of them. Orbea for my winter bike.

My next bike however is going to be a Van Nicholas and again thin on the ground.

  • I pickup my Dedacciai K19 on Monday, don't see many Dedacciai's on the road, even less of the Ti variety. Currently have a 2010 Felt F75, apparently they were not sold in the UK but Merlin bought a container load and knocked them out via tinterweb, I have never seen another one on the road. It's nice to be different!

I think he's referring to the fact that it either has a tiny frame or the words largest wheels and crankset.
  • Oh yes.. A mans chainset on a childs bicycle, brilliant

    overly big frames = bad

Love the colour scheme on that Ritte.

Well known brands I hardly see - I'd say Cinelli and Orbea - rarely see them though there used to be an ex Seoul Olympics rider on the local chaingang a few years ago with an Orbea Orca. Don't see many Fujis either though I've got a Fuji track in the garage. Agree that you rarely see a top end carbon Raleigh either - the exception is the Raleigh team who are based locally - never seen anyone else on one though.

See loads of Specialized and Boardman, a few Cervelo, Felt, Look, Trek, Cannondale, Wilier.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
  • GT?
I wasnt looking for one, but at £450 with Tiagra in the Wiggle sale seemed a bit of a bargain despite not being a Trek, Specialized etc.

Depends if your 6'3" or not I suppose, it's a nice bike though, I'm not taking anything away from it (that's not possible with that frame!!)

There are plenty of Orbeas here, and also BHs (which I don't think has been mentioned on this thread). The Spanish don't seem keen on American bikes, so you don't often see a Trek or Specialized, and I don't think I've ever seen a British make.

I ride a Surly, which really stands out - American and steel!

    Nice.
  • Another Pegoretti owner here -- I've had a Duende for 12 years now and only seen one other on the road in the UK.

How about cheap and cheerful... Onix? Or from the Aussies... EMC?

In my work/world I see Pinarello and Dolan every day - so I don't really see them as 'lesser seen' brands. But I think the two above count to the list!
