Cumulative delays today are at around 90 mins and we’re looking at over 2 hours before I get home.

This is on the revised timetable after they took out my usual train thua shunting me onto a train that’s 20 mins slower.

You're living in the wrong place, the trains seem pretty punctual down here in Kent.

    Shambles.

    Pah. Trivial. Indeed.

For comparison, bar autobot type responses to emails sent, 'my' (as in inherited the supplier) SO Energy account has not been activated properly for 5 months and counting. I've made payments based on (now smart-ish) meter readings and tariff rates, the payments get logged on account, auto obvs and errr, that's it.

No human involvement to set up a new user's account properly. 'kin annoying. Reckon I should pull plug, switch supplier, flex rates are all pretty much the same in this modern world, and force them to do some proper sums. I have my spreadsheet!
I can Trump that for Scottish Power. I was being over charged for 2 years for eco7 heating that doesn't exist (means the daytime tariff is much higher than it should be) and it has taken me that long and an upheld ombudsman complaint to explain this to them. By overcharged I mean not by an insignificant amount- over £1000.

And I can't log on at all now. Site seems to have crashed. Who could have forseen high demand at the start of October though?
That's everybody getting their meter readings before the price hike.
I submitted my reading on Thursday.

Fair 'nuff. If only these power cos would employ staff in proportion to decent levels of customer service.

EDF got organised. They had a special section on their website which allowed you to submit meter readings without having to log into your account. You put in your account number and then it took you to a page where you put in your readings and these would be uploaded.

I've no idea why this would be faster, but it evidently worked because there was no problem.

Ditto British Gas, though I did log in anyway (with no problem), so I could see in more detail what was going on in the account.

Is anyone annoyed they didn't get a smart meter before now?

Can't surely be worse than HMRC? I've spent literally hours waiting to speak to them and I'm sure it's now hard wired in my brain. If I hear it again it'll trigger another PTSD episode

Got a fee that's racheted in Euros based on a Sterling amount.

Falling pound just dumped the fee into the lower bracket, ffs.

British Gas decided they were going to come and fit one last week. Failed to show but have just credited our account with £28.50 for the inconvenience.
Clearly they are making too much money.

HGVs on the 2 lane section of the M42 that ignore the ban on overtaking. Also camper cans that tow a small car behind them.

Why would you be annoyed? I still tell them my energy usage periodically. It's not going to change what they charge me.
  • Smart meter wouldn't change what I use or pay so far - apart from the portion of the bill that has gone towards their installation.

Do market towns in the Midlands have disproportionately bad experiences with smart meters?

In the days of MFI kitchens, they failed to turn up for a delivery. I called and asked what they charged for non-delivery...
The agent assured me that it would be alright and I wouldn't get charged as it was their fault.

"I know" I said "I want to know what the charge is because I'm charging YOU".

    It was £14.

    And they paid it :)

They should get rid of the Nobel Peace Prize.

I am a big Zelensky fan and will defend him, but he is not the right recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. He is literally the leader of a warring nation. He is defending his nation, as he should, against invaders who are committing in crimes against humanity against his nation. But he is not advocating peace. He's repelling invaders with force.

It is straying way beyond its brief.

    Shouldn't have been nominated!

Anyone can get nominated by any member of a national assembly. There's not a lot they can do about that. Donald Trump got nominated.

They don't reveal who was nominated or made it to the shortlist for 50 years.

Fair enough. Obama winning it for being elected US president was the death knell of the award. Figured this was the same thing.
