I went into a London Genesis dealer today to see if the Volare frame was out yet. The chap there looked up on his system and told me that Madison wont be riding the steel frame after all as it did not make the grade but will be riding carbon instead :? .
Eh? After all that USP talk (not to be confused with ALL the USPS talk)0 -

I hope they ride steel, I really do, unless the frame is north of £2k to buy, then its somehow not so much fun.0 -
Dafuq? Someone is going to have to explain that "look" to me - it appears to the result of a trolley dash through an Oxfam shop.
And why's he standing like he's bursting to go to the loo?'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -

Given that the titanium version of the Equilibrium came in with a much heftier price tag than expected I'm not holding out much hope for the Volare on the cost front.0 -
hm, 953 is not a new 'tube set' is it. You'd have thought they would have known what they were getting into. Not long to wait anyway, I imagine all the mags will be testing them. The Volant with 105 is £1200.
From Road.CC;
"Genesis have a good relationship with Reynolds and we've seen some dabbling in 953 on their mountain bike side of things in the past, so we're confident they've got the know-how to put together a great frame.
While details are few and far between, we do know that it will be adorned with all the current fixtures, including an oversized head tube and tapered fork steerer and press-fit bottom bracket. Genesis haven't released the geometry details but talking about weight, they're confident it will meet the UCI's minimum weight limit of 6.8kg."
A 7.0kg steel bike would be rather nice if its stiff. I could get excited about that0 -
Since using a carbon frame and lightweight parts can get well below the UCI limit surely they can get a steel frame pretty close?0
