Training Guidance please

Hi folks, I've found myself having signed up for a duathlon and a couple of 100 mile sportive rides for 2013, including the welsh sportive of a gentle 112 miles
Fun I here some say, well i'm new to cycling, (I'm one of them mamil types) commuting 40 miles round trip a couple of time a week for the past three months and a intermediate runner having completed two marathons, 4 half's and a couple of 10k's over the past two years.
Training for the duathlon doesn't faze me but the sportive training is a different matter, I don't know where to start :? , so any guidance on where to start is openly welcome...

You sound fairly fit, tbh you could probably already do 100 miles if you take it easy, and eat right.0

I agree. Just try and get out a bit more and up your mileage a little over the winter - you'll be fine.0

Ditto above. Only thing I would suggest is getting a bike fit, chances are the setup you use for commuting isn't necessarily the best one for a 100mile ride.
If you want a training guide the one below is good especially if time available is limited (despite who wrote it). It includes a specific plan for a 100mile ride.

Cheers for the vote of confidence, my basic plan so far is to up the commute to four days a week and try and stretch at least one or two of them to 50 miles a day over the next few months (as long as there's no snow!)
Bike fitting sounds like a good idea, is this something any bike shop can do or should I find a specialist outfit to carry this out?0 -
Agree on bike fit. Helps to be comfortable.
We have plans that would be suitable and are adapted to your level of fitness, training history/experience and available training time.0
